You need to reinstall your device OS to regain access to your device.


Check steps below for OS upgrade -




Before starting make sure that BlackBerry Desktop Software is installed on the computer.


Make sure that you have installed updated device software installed in your PC. Check this link to get update device software from carrier OS download site.


Users can perform a full or selective backup of the data using the Backup and Restore tool in BlackBerry Desktop Manager by completing the following steps:

  1. Connect the BlackBerry device to the computer running BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
  2. Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
  3. Double-click Backup and Restore.
  4. Select Backup to perform a full backup or select Advanced to perform a backup of specific databases.
  5. Choose a location to save the backup file, then click Save.

To perform a clean install of the BlackBerry Device Software, perform the following steps:

  1. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer and open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
  2. Double-click the Application Loader icon.
  3. Click Next to start the installation process.
  4. Type your BlackBerry smartphone password, if prompted, and click OK.
  5. Click the check boxes next to the names of the applications you want to load, and then click Next.
  6. Click Advanced, and then click the check box beside Erase all currently installed applications.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Click the check box next to Do not automatically backup the application data during the loading process.
  9. Clear the box next to Backup and restore applications installed wirelessly.
  10. Click Next > Finish.
  11. When the process has completed, the message The loading operation was successful will appear. Click Close to return to BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

You need to reinstall Blackberry Software on your phone.. you need Blackberry Desktop manger to do that.
Download Blackberry desktop manager (if you dont have it already) from this link:http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/

First, backup your data from Blackberry desktop manager.
And download software for you phone from this link: http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
Software is different for every service provider so make sure you download correct one...
Once download, install the software on your computer. Connect your blackberry with computer.. open blackberry desktop manger, device under software updates, you will see an update (which we just downloaded) follow it and done.

Try the following steps to reload the software for your blackberry. You will need BB desktop manager (which you download from blackberry.com. Good Luck
  1. Verify that the BlackBerry® Desktop Manager and the current BlackBerry Device Software (for your BlackBerry smartphone) is installed on the computer.
  2. Remove the battery from the BlackBerry smartphone. Do not re-insert the battery.
  3. Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager on the computer.
  4. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer using a USB cable.
  5. On the BlackBerry Desktop Manager main screen, click Application Loader.
  6. In the Update Software area of the Application Loader, click Start.
  7. Click Options. This allows you to add or remove applications from the BlackBerry smartphone.
  8. Select the applications that you want to install.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Click Next.
  11. Click Finish.
  12. When the application load process starts, insert the battery into the BlackBerry smartphone.

I was downloding a backup on my bb, i didnt remember the password so it gave me an error 513 what do i do?


The Blackberry Device Software must be reloaded on to the BlackBerry smartphone.
To perform a clean installation of the BlackBerry Device Software using BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.5 to 5.0, perform the following steps:

1) Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
2) Click Help.
3) Select About Desktop Manager.
4) Click the Device Software tab.
5) Verify that the BlackBerry Device Software displayed is the latest version currently available from the wireless service provider.

For instructions on how to download the latest versions of BlackBerry Desktop Manager and BlackBerry Device Software follow the steps:-
1) Click the BlackBerry Device and Desktop Software link. 2) Click the Download BlackBerry Device and Desktop Software link.
3) Select the appropriate software from the drop-down list and click Next.
4) Click the Download link.

To perform a full backup of the BlackBerry smartphone data complete the following steps:-
1)Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer running BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
2) Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
3) Click Backup and Restore.
4) Select Backup to perform a full backup.
5) Select a location to save the backup file, and then click Save.

To perform a selective backup for one or more databases perform the following steps:-
1) Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer running BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
2) Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
3) Click Backup and Restore.
4) Click on Advanced.
5) Select the database(s) on the right side selection window for Device databases.
6) Select the Arrow that points to the left side of the screen to transfer the database(s) to include in the backup.
7) Verify the database(s) are on the left side selection window for the Computer databases.
8) Click on File in the menu located at the top left hand side of the Desktop Manager.
9) Name the backup file and select a location to save the file.
10) Click the option to Save once the location for the file is selected.
