Clear a paper jam

It looks like disassembly is required.
I'll try that first and let you know. I can't see the paper but I can hear it!

shredder won't shred. can't hear motor in the forward setting only in reverse

Silverfox007:

There is a paper sensor at the throat of the machine that turns the machine on when it is activated by the paper when the paper is inserted. Something has happened to that sensor. Unplug the machine and remove the shredder head from the basket. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws at the bottom of the shredder head and open the shredder head. Look where the paper is fed into the machine and you will see the sensor. It may be unplugged/wire broken/sensor flag broken off... You'll know what to do when you identify the problem.

how do I clear a "phantom" paper jam?

Are you a techy person? The reason I ask is sometimes these phantom jams are caused
by a sensor that is not seated properly and may require disassembly. Anyhow, if you have tried
to blow can air and tried reseated the paper then maybe its the sensor. Usually a disassembly
is required to reseat the sensor assembly is required. Get your hands on a schematics for
your model before attempting.

Occasionally a serious paper jam can require partial disassembly of the fuser. Don't try this with the power connected. Specialist support may be required.

Phaser 8400 won't print.

pull out the paper drawer and look on the ceiling of the compartment. you will see a little orange rubber roller that should be clicked inplace. it feeds the paper up into the roller. also, the drawer itself contains two sensors. if you go to the xerox page you can download the pdf that lists all the parts and the errors and how to disassemble the whole thing. i have the same printer and got a print head error and a paper jam that required complete disassembly. feel free to email me for additional help.

HP 2600n crackling noise at top feed - paper creased

Can you wipe the toner off the page or smear it? Most likely the fuser has had the fixing film fail. Thus the crackling noise. You have two solutions, 1. replace the fuser with a ne or rebuilt one or 2. find a fixing film and replace it yourself. Both jobs require removing the fuser which means disassembling the printer. Check Printer Works for a diagram and Google for the best price on a fuser. Hope this helps.
