How to install Firmware on your Sony PSP

  • Visit the sony PSP website by going to: http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/SystemUpdates/PSP/PC.html

    Click the Download Now button, which is located under Step 3 under the "Download Procedure."

    Verify that the file will be saved with the name "EBOOT.PBP" and save it to your desktop.

    Connect your PSP to your computer via the USB cable. When the cord is plugged in, select "USB Connection" under the Settngs menu on your PSP.

    Let the PSP window open up on your desktop. This will take a minute, so be patient. From the window, select "View Files."

    Select the Games folder from the open window.

    Select and save the file into the Update folder. If there is not an Update folder already made, make one by right clicking your mouse and selecting "New Folder." Save the folder with the name "Update."

    Safely remove your PSP from your computer by right clicking and selecting "Safely Remove" from the green arrow icon in the tray on the bottom left of your computer's screen.

    Use the right arrow key on your PSP to highlight the Game icon from the PSP menu.

    Scroll down and click on the "Memory Stick" icon. This is usually the last icon in the list.

    Click the PSP Update icon and follow all of the instructions that it tells you to follow. You will now have the latest version of firmware on your PSP.


  • Tips & Warnings
    • After the new firmware has been installed, you can delete the update from your PSP to free up space.
    • None of your saved files will be deleted from updating firmware versions.

    Recharge your battery fully to do an update, leave the psp also hooked up to te power supply.

    Updates for your psp can be found here:

    Make on a memory stick the folder PSP, in that folder a folder called GAME, under this folder a folder called UPDATE.
    These folders are capital sensitive see also:
    http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/SystemUpdates/PSP/PC.html

    Copy EBOOT.PBP on the memory card to \PSP\GAME\UPDATE.

    Putt the memory card in your psp, go in the xmb to the game\memory stick menu and run the update.

    Just follow the instruction on this website and it will help you to download and install the newest and latest updates fo the psp. On number 3 un the download information there is another link that lets you download the file so make sure that you do not look over the "DOWNLOAD NOW" button.
