Method 1:
Internet Explorer users click on Tools>internet options>connection>LAN settings,Make sure the proxy server is checked if it is checked then uncheck it.

First Step, Reboot your PC.

Second, try connecting an ethernet cable to test if it is a network fault. If that fails, then Click on the start button, then select run (If there is no run box, simply type in the search box) and type cmd
You will get a black command prompt screen. type ping www.google.com
If you get any replies with packets sent 4 lost 0 it means that the internet is active but there is a problem with Windows.

In this case, try reseting your Internet browser.
If that does not work, do a small Winsock, by following this :
Click on the start button, then select run (If there is no run box, simply type in the search box) and type cmd
Then type netsh winsock reset

Reboot your PC, that should work.

If that Fails, get a local tech. (You may need to reinstal Windows Eventually)

I have the HERMO packard bell model. I can hardly access internet and the sound is not heard. Please hhelp

For internet
Resolution:
First check ipaddress
Click Start -run- type cmd hit enter for XP or Start -search-type cmd hit enter in Vista. On the DOS black screen after the blinking cursor type ipconfig hit enter check the ipaddress if are getting ipaddress other than (169........) it is proper ipaddress for e.g 147.14.48.478
Ping the default gateway e.g ping 147.11.445.478 if you are able to get packets send 4 received 4 loss zero is with Internet explorer or operating system.
If unable to ping or getting 169..... ipaddress . you are having static ip address
On the black screen at the blinking cursor type ipconfig /release hit enter
then type ipconfig /renew hit enter .check ip address
Ping default gateway then ping www.google.com if you are able to get packets send 4 received 4 loss 0. Try connect to internet using internet explorer or other browser. if still unable to connect then issue with firewall or antivirus or IE corruption .
Create new administrative account in XP and do MSconfig .Restart the system and logon to new account and try connecting to internet.
If issue persist might have to repair IE or operating system as it is software issue or virus issue.
You can connect a different computer if you have one and check internet.
If unable to get any ipaddress or still getting static ip address ,reset modem or check ethernet cable ,do a hard reset on the internet modem.Shutdown and restart computer and check ipaddress then try connecting to internet.

NO sound : Check the sound driver .Try reinstalling sound drivers

You may have to check your internet connections first. Try and browse other web sites to verify internet connectivity. If you tried more than 3 web sites and are getting page cannot be displayed error messages then your internet connection may have been lost. Check your modem or cable connection.

One way to quickly check if you have internet connection is to go to your Windows "run" command box and on the box type "CMD" press enter. Once you type "cmd" inside the "RUN" box and press ENTER. This will "shell" out to a black DOS like screen. Type "IPCONFIG" press ENTER. Look at the "IP Address" and "Default Gateway" if this has a set of numbers ( IP Address) besides 169.0.0.0 or 172.0.0. the you have internet connection. Type "ping yahoo.com " (without the quotes) and press enter. If it comes back with at least 3 lines of "Reply from i.e 206.190.60.37.....etc, etc," theh you have definitely an internet connection
