Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

How can test Laptop?s temperature and temperature should it be at?

If your laptop is not working ideally it may be the cause of temperature. But most laptops naturally run hot, so a system utility that can access your laptop's internal temperature sensors can help you decide if you need to take some steps to keep your laptop cool down.

Most CPU's maximum temperatures are around 100 degree Celsius. But you can look up temperature specifications for your specific laptop's Intel or AMD processor. Optimal operating temperature is 50 degree Celsius or below.

Some programs will help you to test your Laptop's CPU Temperature that can show you the CPU temperature as well as other system details such as processor load, voltage, and more. And some of them can also automatically adjust the speed of your laptop's fan for better performance.

Speed Fan- In the case of monitoring fan speeds, voltage, and processor temperatures using your laptop's internal sensors, Speed Fan can also access S.M.A.R.T. information to set your hard disk's temperatures.

Real Temp- The real temp is specially designed to monitor temperature for all Intel single, dual, and core processors. In the case to showing the temperature and load the processor, it also shows the CPU's safe maximum operating temperature and how far from this maximum temperature your processor is running at. Another most important feature of Real Temp is tracking of your highest and lowest temperatures since you opened the program.

These tips may help you to determine the exact temperature for your laptop.

There are many reasons y0our laptop is running slow.
1. Make sure the ventilation holes of the laptop are not blocked with dirt, or blocked by placing laptop on your lap, or a non-hard surface. When the CPU gets hot, it will throttle down to run slower. You can install a temperature monitoring program to determine if the CPU is running too hot. 2. If the temperature is within normal range, then check to see the amount of free space on your HDD. Keep at least 10% or more free. 3. If that is ok, then you may not have enough ram to run all the programs. Windows 7, or 8 should have at least 4GB or more RAM. 4. If that is ok too, then you may have a lot of unnecessary programs running. Run a virus scanner program to get rid of viruses, etc. 5. Uninstall unused programs. Sort by date to see which programs were installed most recently, By doing this if you can remember when you started having problems, you can uninstall programs installed around that time that may be causing your problems. As you can see a lot of things can cause slowness. Good luck!

How do I stop my S3520 computer from shuting down automaticaly when unattended

if your laptop keeps shutting off

If your laptop suddenly shuts itself off for no apparent reason, there are several factors that can contribute to the problem.

When you troubleshoot the laptop, remember that it is also possible for a combination of causes to be at work.

Excessive Heat

Keep Cool

All newer laptops have built-in heat sensors that shut the computer off when it exceeds a pre-set temperature threshold. Install and run a temperature monitoring utility to determine whether the laptop is overheating.

Hardware Issues

If you replaced or installed new hardware in your laptop, use the device management utility to review if there are any resource conflict or failure reports. You can also remove unnecessary hardware and run the laptop to see if the problem persists. If it doesn't, reinstall each hardware component and re-test until the laptop fails.

Operating System Issues

The operating system start-up controls can affect how the laptop performs.

Follow the operating system developer's instructions for entering the start-up program, and confirm that the settings are what your laptop requires.

Power Supply

If the laptop computer suddenly shuts down, it could be because of a break in the power supply.

If the laptop is plugged into an outlet for power, check to see if the plug was pulled from the socket and make sure the cord is properly connected to the computer.

If the laptop is running on battery power, then it is possible that the battery is drained and no longer has enough power to run the computer.

A simple recharge of the laptop battery should fix the problem.

Typically, a laptop has an indicator on the screen that tells how much battery life is left so that a shutdown is not a surprise.

Failing batteries can produce unexpected laptop shutdowns.

Use a battery monitoring utility to determine whether or not the battery is healthy and replace it if it isn't.

Malware

Unfortunately, rootkits and viruses can cause your laptop to shut down without warning.

You will probably have to take the hard drive out of the laptop to be able to scan it fully and remove any malware that is installed, or the laptop will shut down before the scan and repair can finish.

If you believe a virus may be the cause of your laptop's shutdown problem, run a virus scan on the system to find out if any exist.

Sometimes when I start my laptop (usually when my USB broadband device is connected), the screen will start flickering and the laptop will make a whining noise for about a minute or so before shutting down. I'm thinking it's either from the fan not running anymore or perhaps the motherboard is going bad. I have a USB fan I put underneath the laptop when I am using it to help with the heat build-up.

Indeed your problem seems to be a temperature problem, especially if this happens after a working period and the laptop gets hot. Let's start with the easy solution:
Shut down your laptop and remove the battery. Use a soft brush (and if possible air under pressure) to clean up pedantically the air blinds all around the laptop. In case of using air under pressure leave the laptop to "rest" (and the temperatures and humidity to balance) for about 15 minutes. Check for your problem again after this.

Thanks and regards
