Tip & How-To about GPS

Use Your Car's Speakers

Why listen to directions (and MP3s and phone calls) on the speaker tinny little in your GPS? Many high-end GPS receivers are equipped with an FM transmitter to send audio to speakers car stereo. This may work in rural areas where the FM band is not as crowded, but to find a free frequency, will be a challenge in cities.

One possibility is to use the headphone / audio jack, you can also find an average level of GPS units. Connect the cable car stereo aux patch, and the bliss of static-free sound.

Alesis RA-100 amp is tinny

To test speakers get a 1.5 volt battery and put the (-)wire of the speaker to the negative end of the battery. Then take the + wire and for a split second touch the positive terminal of the battery. You should hear the speaker pop! Listen to each unit inside the speaker, any that don't pop are not working.
If you look inside the amp you may see that something has burnt up. Look carefully at whatever is on the heat sink.
