How to Prevent Laptop Overheating

There are some laptops that get hotter than other laptops. Laptops get hot due to many factors such as capacity of the processor, cooling fans, ventilation, extra items such as modem, video cards. They all produce heat due to which laptop gets hot.

You'll find many examples on the Internet for the laptops which get hot. There are particular laptop models which produce excessive heat. For example, IMB T60,Apple Mac Book Aeros, Compaq 610, Dell D400 etc.

But you don't need to worry now because there are certain methods by which you can stop overheating of your laptop. These methods are discussed below.

Place your laptop on a cool flat surface while working. It will allow the air to enter your laptop. Some laptops have cooling fan underneath and blocking this will make your laptop hot quickly.

Buy a laptop stand from a laptop seller. It lifts your laptop few inches from surface of the table making a reasonable space for air to enter your laptop freely.

Dust your laptop regularly; it will keep your laptop's fan functioning properly for a long period. The fan needs to do an extra work when there is dust inside the laptop. If you dust regularly, the fan will not experience any difficulty.

Shut down your laptop before putting it in the bag. The atmosphere inside the bag may be too hot for your laptop, and it can damage your laptop.

When the battery is full, unplug the charger. People make a common mistake leaving the laptop plugged in. Due to the constant supply of electricity to the laptop will heat its battery as a result it will overheat your laptop.

You can find certain kinds of items in many electronic stores for keeping your laptop cool. Cooling pad is a most common equipment to keep your laptop cool that sits beneath your laptop and is powered on with the help of USB port. It increases the airflow inside the laptop. So, cooling pad is the best you can take to keep your laptop cool and maximize its performance.

Give your laptop a little break if it is getting hot. It can shut down itself to protect any kind of damage due to overheating. This is an indication that your laptop needs a little break.

Do not expose your laptop to the sunlight for a long span of time.

WHAT IS THE POWER SAPLY OF A COOLER MASTER ATX MIDTOWER

The case is sold sans power supply. Since it is an ATX form factor, you can add in a third party power supply- like Corsair, or any other reputable manufacturer. As a piece of advice: I would honestly spend more on power and cooling than I would on hard drive capacity, gpu power, or processor speed- the reason being what's the point of having the best processor and video cards when your system dies from lack of power or melts down due to improper cooling!

laptop keeps turning off laptop only stays on for 5 minutes, max, before powering off. no warning, just turns off. battery and power cable/converter is good. Tested with another 1525 battery and cable. battery indicator in toolbar does not show that it is charging. when moved to another 1525, battery charges.

Two factors usually cause this

Factor 1: Overheating due to Dust and Dirt contamination inside the Notebook.

Open the Notebook and blow it with an Air blower mainly near the processor area.

Check the CPU cooling fan is working properly or not.

if the fan is not working properly even after the cleaning then you need to replace it.

Factor 2 : Virus, Worm or Malware infected system cause the system to repeatedly restart ot shutdown.

get your system clean with a good Antivirus like "Kaspersky Internet security 2010" or A-squared Anti-Malware. Both can detect malware, adware, spyware, trojans etc.

Check out which one work out for you.

hi, my compaq CQ50-115NR used to make great fan noise...now, nothing and it gets hotter and hotter...what should I do?

Have the fan replaced.

The 'great fan noise' you heard was the fan's bearings.
The looser the fan bearings became, the more the fan tilted, allowing the center hub of the fan to rub against the bearing base.

A laptop has a poor cooling system. All of the hardware components, are crammed into one tiny box. Air is the only cooling medium to keep these components cool.

The Processor, and the graphics chip are the two components that give off the most heat.
When a Processor becomes too hot, it turns off.
(BIOS turns it off)
This is a Fail Safe feature built-in, to keep the processor from burning up.

I would advise not using the laptop until this has been corrected.
Is the laptop still under warranty?

I have problem with my HP 6730s. It is very hot when i`m playing on it. And i have a gane witch is frameing. It is because the laptop is so hot?

Yes it is. The heat build up affects lots of parts in there, the video, hard drive, and of course the processor.

Laptops typically run much hotter than desktops for obvious reasons; there is not much room in there for equipment and fans. You may want to check into a docking tray for your laptop to sit on. Many have up to six fans situated to draw as much heat as possible out of the laptop interior. They aren't very expensive, and do make a difference. Don't play with your laptop in your lap - always play with it on a flat surface so that air can circulate under it.
