Tip & How-To about Cycling

Having Trouble with bike assembly?

Did you purchase a bike you have to put together yourself? Bikes from childrens bikes to adult, come in boxes with sometimes difficult to understand directions.

While bikes purchased from your local bike shop will come fully assembled and require specialized tools, bikes bought at major department stores, retail chains and similar are often an assemble on your own job.

The following link is to Huffy's website for bicycle assembly. Even if you don't have the huffy brand, this is an excellent resource and will work for your bicycle. All bikes within a catagory are essentially the same as they use the same parts. If after trying this yiou still can't get the bike together, feel free to post a specific question and I/ we will be happy to help.

the brakes are getting stuck and the wheel doesn't tuen

You do not say what kind of bike, speed bike?Coaster brake? hand brakes, pedal brake? If, it is a hand brake, it usually means that your wheel is bent and needs to be trued. You cannot adjust brakes with a bent wheel and you need a truing stand.. If it is a coaster brake you need you hub rebuilt as there is an part broken inside the hub.

Why is lighter bike better for kids?

After design & efficiency, the next most important aspect is weight. This applies to all bikes and in kid's bikes we have found most bikes on the market are over-weight! The average adult bike weighs approximately 15kgs with the expected rider to weigh between 60-90 kg. By comparison, the average children's bike weighs 13kgs for a child weighing around 20kgs.
