Tip & How-To about Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP3 Full Version OEM for PC

Disable the annoying thumbnail cache (Thumbs.db)

Windows XP, by default, shows the thumbnails view of certain folders, whether you want it to or not it may still revert back to the clumsy Thumbnails view.

It does this for any folder in which it finds the THUMBS.DB file if like me you don't like to have this hidden little file.

To stop this being created for all folders use this registry tweak

http://cid-b9ec6690da6fa3eb.office.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/TWEAKS/Disable.Thumbnails.reg

Then do a full file search and delete all the THUMBS.DB files as this will only stop new ones being created. OK

File and folder names are not visible in one drive of my pc

For Windows XP:

Open the problematic folder, Press and hold SHIFT key, right-click in empty area and select "View -> Thumbnails". It'll toggle the file/folder names.

Actually its a feature to show/hide file names while in Thumbnails mode.

For Windows Vista and 7:

Open the problematic folder, right-click in empty area and de-select "View -> Hide File names". If the option is not available, then press and hold SHIFT key, right-click in empty area and select "View -> Medium Icons".

video thumbnails on my computer wont show up on laptop. The exact files on my PC show thumbnails of videos fine. Is there any software I have to download for my laptop to show the thumbnails?

Open the folder where the files are stored.
Click on 'Tools'
Click on 'Folder Options'
Click on the 'View' tab.
Check the box that says "Do not cache thumbnails"
Click ok.

I hope that fixes it.
