Tip & How-To about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

Sync a ps3 controller to a diffrent ps3

  • Using a PS3 controller charge cable (the cable that connects your controller to a USB port on a PS3), connect the PS3 controller to the console you wish to sync it with. With the cable still inserted, press the PS button in the center of the ps3 controller. The lights on the PS3 controller will flash for a moment, and then a controller number will be assigned to the new controller.Your PS3 controller is now synced to the console, and you can unplug the charge cable. Repeat these steps when you want to sync your controller with a different console. If you ever need to reset the Bluetooth connection of a PS3 controller entirely, locate the small pinhole on the back of the controller. By using a paper clip or other thin object to press the button inside this pinhole, you can reset your controller and its Bluetooth connection.

my ps3 controller won't work turn on or charge

Check to see if your USB cable works. It coulb be that your USB cable dont work and since your your ps3 remote needs to be charged then when you connect it to charge nothing happens so try using a different USB cable to see if that works..

Controller won't link to the ps3 middle button just flashes as if its trying to connect. I have connected the tab coors but still nothing works.

Is the controller completely charged? If it is, then try this
    1) Manually turn on your PS3 using the power button on the PS3.
    2) Take your USB charger for your controller and plug it into the USB port. (Do NOT turn on your controller yet!)
    3) Plug the controller into the charger that is connected to the PS3 USB port.
    4) Now turn on your controller using the middle "PS" button.

The lights will flash for a few seconds, and that will sync your controller to that particular PS3 system. This might help :D

My controllers wont sync to the ps3 or charge on it but they charge when i plug them into the PC. i had the "Maximum power reached" message thing plop up then my ps3 crashed and now they dont charge or sync whats wrong?

yea i have noticed my ps3 isn't charging stuff either it only does charge when its turned on im pretty sure theres a setting to charge while the ps3 is off To sync:
  • Connect the USB cable (provided with the controller) into the data USB port on the top of the controller. Insert the other end of the controller into one of the two USB ports on the front of the system.

  • Power on the television and the Sony PlayStation 3. You are going to see a series of lights flicker on the top of the wireless controller.
  • Press the PS3 button in the middle of the controller. This tells the gaming system it is connected. A single light appears on the controller.
  • Remove the gaming controller from the PS3. You can now use it wireless. It is also possible to remove the USB cable from the PlayStation if it is blocking your field of view.

cant connect my ps3 control to any ps3

do you have the USB cable that connects the controller to the ps3, ( it looks like this: http://tech2.in.com/media/images/2007/May/img_5948_usb_cable_450x360.jpg ) its used for charging if you're more familiar with that method.

First make sure the controller you want to connect is TURNED OFF, then simply connect the controller to the ps3 using the USB cable then press the PS button in the middle of your controller, it should work
