Tip & How-To about Ovens

Easy Clean of Non-Self Cleaning Ovens

If you don't have the Self-clean feature on your range, here's a tip for a simple way to clean without having to purchase expensive, offensive spray oven cleaners. Using a glass cup, place 1/4 cup of household ammonia in the oven. Let it sit overnight. The next day the ammonia fumes will have loosened the soil
and you should be able to wipe the bottom of the oven with a paper towel and most of the soil will come right out!
PLEASE BE AWARE: If you have a gas oven with a constantly burning pilot, the ammonia will evaporate and be ineffective.

Hi,
If you don't take them out the high heats can wreck the finish on them and turn them all kinds of crazy colors.... but if you don't care what they look like after the cleaning you can let them in...

My recommendation is to not use the self cleaning feature...
