PSP automatically charge itself when you connect the USB cable from the PSP to your computers USB port you should see the power light change from green to orange that is a sign of a charging state and if that did not happen connect the PSP on a different USB port on your computer because sometimes some USB port supplies less amount of power.

how can i connect a psp with my pc

    Hello,

    Thank you for using Fixya!

You can either buy a PSP data cable like this, this has both data and power cable to it. You can buy this to any electronic/gaming shop or here.

Once you have this all you have to do if plugged the USB cable on both device (you PC and PSP) and then usually for newer version of PSPfirmware the computer will automatically detects your PSP.

    Sincerely,

    Computer can't detect my psp

If you know someone who has a USB data cable for PSP, please borrow and test it with your PSP. USB cables has 4 wires, 2 for power (+5V and GRD) and 2 for data (+ and -). With PSP, the power and data wires are separated and has different input on the PSP, if 1 of the data wires is damaged, it will look like the cable is ok but it couldn't transmit and receive data properly. In your case, I think your PSP is can transmit but couldn't receive a reply from your PC.

Let me know if the borrowed PSP USB cable don't work.

what should happen? the psp will charge and the laptop will alert you that a new device has been connected. after installing the device you should be able to transfer files between the computer and the psp.

    hopefully that helps.
