Tip & How-To about Health & Beauty

Perfume tip- Allow the scent to dry

Allow the scent to dry. Many people put on perfume and immediately dress, which rubs some of it off and prevents the fragrance from really being absorbed. It takes about an hour for the perfume to develop with your natural scent

What type of fragrance lasts the longest when sprayed? For example: toilette, parfum, body spray (like at Bath& Body Works)... etc. Also, any advice on how to keep the fragrance from "fading" so that the scent lasts the whole day?

The concentrate always last longer....oil-based fragrances are also long lasting..this is evident with "attar", which is arabic perfume oil....very snice smelling...although tooo much of it can get to your head....about the scent lasting the whole day...i believe its not possible...although some fragrances last longer on some skin types...your best bet is to keep trying the ones you like and see which lasts longer....or you can re-sprray during the day....lighter scents for the day time and sweet scents for the night time....

Should you put fragrance on bare skin or after you're dressed? I've been told both.

"The best is to apply the fragrance directly onto unclothed skin," says Christopher Sheldrake, deputy perfumer for Chanel in Paris. "This method creates an alchemy between the skin and the perfume, which is going to express the scent in a more personalized way. On the skin, the perfume gets warmer - it rises with your temperature, which isn't the case of a perfume applied directly on clothes."

How many fragrances can be tried without becoming numbed?

variety of different fragrance types is less fatiguing to the sense of smell. When perfumes are very different you can try five to six; when they are similar, only two to three. Heavier scents tire your nose more quickly so when sampling always begin with lighter scents.

Can anyone recommend a clean, fresh fragrance (due to personal experience)? really enjoy the Philosophy fragrances including Pure Grace which has a clean, soap & water scent, however, I seem to be allergic to their fragrances as I'm allergic to a lot of substances :) From experience, can anyone suggest some fragrances that are light, clean and fresh withOut a lot of fruitiness or floral? Thank you so much!

I love Pure Grace too and I always thought Gendarme Cologne smells so much like it (it's for men though).

Or have you tried fragrances from Clean? They remind me of perfumes from Philosophy in some way, but with more citrus. The dry down of Clean Ultimate smells a lot like Pure Grace.
