Tip & How-To about Apple iPod touch

How to get password from router to put in ipod.

You must be wired directly to the router for this to work.
Click start button then type cmd and click on found item.Type ipconfig and hit enter.Look for default gateway and gateway address that look something like 192.168.1.1
Open up your Internet Browser
Type in the Gateway address in the Address Line and click enter. This should take you to the Main Page of your router

From there you need to follow along and read every page carefully. All routers are not the same but you should find an area that says Wireless and then Security. If you used WEP encryption, for example, you will find that information there. This should cover you with most routers.

can't connect to to http address

Try plugging your computer directly into the range extender first, with an ethernet cable. Then check your computer for an IP. To do this follow these steps:

XP: click start> then run> type "cmd" and hit enter.
type "ipconfig" and hit enter, it should show you a default gateway address, that is the number you should type in your browser (IE: internet explorer)

Vista: click start> then in the start search type "cmd" and hit enter.
Type "ipconfig" and hit enter, it should show you a default gateway address, that is the number you should type in your browser (IE: internet explorer)

Click Start, Click Run, type in CMD and hit the enter key, type ipconfig /all after the > sign and then hit the enter key, this will give you the ip address of the computer, the subnet mask and the default gateway, the DHCP server and the DNS server. You can reset the computer's IP address by typing ipconfig /release in the CMD window then typing ipconfig /renew. BPCS
