Tip & How-To about Yahoo Mail

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage when accessing Yahoo! Mail

To me this sounds like files are corrupt in cache. I suggest a clean up of your old cache and cookies.

To delete cookies
To delete a single cookie
1) In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
2) On the General tab, under Browsing history, click Settings.
Click the View files button.
3) Click the Name column heading to sort all the files alphabetically, and then scroll down until you see files that begin with the prefix Cookie:. All cookies will have that prefix, and they usually contain the name of the website that created the cookie.
4) Right-click the cookie you want to delete, click Delete, and then click Yes.
5) Close the window that contains the list of files, and then click OK twice to return to Internet Explorer.

To delete all cookies
1) In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
2) On the General tab, under Browsing history, click Delete.
3) Select the check box next to Cookies. If you only want to delete cookies, clear any other check boxes.
4) Click Delete, and then click OK.
NOTE:
Some websites store your user name, password, or other information about you in a cookie. If you delete that cookie, you might need to enter your personal information again the next time you visit the site.

If that doesn't work then you may need to update your Java and Flash Player.

I have written a separate tip for this as it is quite a complicated procedure, it can be found here: http://www.fixya.com/support/r6775220-not_able_play_youtube_videos

After you have tried both, restart you computer and see if you still have the problem. If so then I suggest you run a full AntiVirus scan of your system. I use firefox and I'm haveing trouble opening my yahoo mail

this can be caused by corrupted cookies.
"Clear the Cache":
  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
  • Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the filecookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted. Rename (or delete)cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

Hope that doesn't sound too confusing!!! Before you do that, try going though Internet Explorer and see if you can log on that way. That way you will know if its just firefox or another problem, if so than do what I wrote above!! Hope this helps you!! (*_*)

How do I clean my cache

As you surf the Web and enter log in information, some sites store your personal information in files called cookies.

Cookies save your log in data so that you don't have to enter the information each time you visit a site.

In addition, some sites save site data such as images and documents in your browser's cache.

These temporary files can speed up the time it takes to visit the website in the future.

If you want to get rid of cookies and cache data, you can do so by following a few steps.

Open Internet Explorer and select "Safety" on the toolbar.

Select "Delete Browsing History..." and select the boxes next to "Cookies" and "Temporary Internet Files."

Click "Delete" to clean your cache and cookies.

Firefox

Open Firefox and select the "Tools" menu. Click "Clean Recent History."

Select "Everything" from the drop-down menu next to "Time Range to Clear."

Select the boxes next to "Cache" and "Cookies" in the list below "Details."

Click "Clear Now" to erase your cache and cookies.

Google Chrome

Open Google Chrome and click the "Wrench" icon to the right of the address bar.

Select "Options" and click the "Under the Hood" tab. Click "Clear Browsing Data" under "Privacy" and select the boxes next to "Empty the Cache" and "Delete Cookies and Other Site Data.

" Select "Everything" from the "Clear Data From This Period:" drop-down menu.

Click "Clear Browsing Data" to empty your cache and delete your cookies.

Hope this helps.

I cannot log in to facebook

My suggestion can apply to most any service that requires a login.

Clean up the cookies, and the browser cache. Sometimes a corrupt cookie or corrupt cache file can cause some problems.

It is also very important that the browser security and privacy is set to allow cookies, history, and web caching.

If you are using Windows 64 bit, and you are using IE 64 bit, there can be issues when signing on to some sites. Try using IE 32 bit if this is the case, and providing the suggestions above have been looked in to.

wont log in --keeps saying redirecting

This happens when it sometimes refuses to accept the cookies or if disabled, kindly clear your Cache as:

For FF
: Click on Tools, then Options
Select Privacy
In the Cookies panel, click on Show Cookies
To remove a single cookie click on the entry in the list and click on the Remove Cookie button
To remove all cookies click on the Remove All Cookies button(prefer to Remove all cookies)

For IE
: Click on Tools, then Internet Options,
under General tab see Temporary Internet Files block, and then click on Delete cookies (prefer to click on delete files also)

The problem will be solved.
