UnLocking Sleep and Lock Modes for Pride and Invacare power chairs

Pride Joysticks and others that use VSI joysticks

SLEEP MODE

Your VSI controller has a sleep mode feature. Sleep mode is a built-in circuit that automatically shuts off the main power if the joystick is not moved in any direction for a period of time predetermined by controller program.

The battery condition meter lights on the keypad indicate sleep mode by blinking once every five seconds. To restore power and continue, push the on/off key twice.

Lock Mode

To unlock the VSI:

1. Press the on/off key and power on the VSI. The maximum speed/profile indicator should ripple side to side.

2. Push the joystick to the full forward position until the VSI beeps.

3. Pull the joystick to the full rearward position until the VSI beeps.

4. Release the joystick. There should be a long beep.

5. The VSI is now unlocked.

Invacare and others that use SPJ+ joysticks

FOR SPJ+ Joysticks

Lock Mode will be indicated by all LEDs

flashing briefly and the information gauge

LEDs chasing slowly from right to left. If

this occurs, press the horn button two times

within ten seconds to unlock the joystick.

Could be in sleep mode try pressing the on/off button twice to get out of sleep mode if that doesn't work then you have a joystick problem and it needs to be replaced Hope this helps

My Jazzy 600 was plugged in & charging and I did not know this. I tried moving the scooter & it would not work. I tried on/off & fast slow until I finally found the plug in was the reason. Now the Sleep Mode is gone by something I must had done. Can I reprogram it to get it working again?

I think I understand what you are describing based on some inadvertent button pushing on your part.
Sleep mode programming on the VSI controller by Penny and Giles Drive technology is the idle time of the power chair before it "goes to sleep". This computer menu is accessed using a hand held PP1 programmer that is plugged into the charging port of the joystick. Using this programmer one can scroll down to the sleep mode menu and set the time from I think 1 to 120 minutes ( I have not accessed this particular programming menu for quite some time).
If I put in 10 and save this number the chair will go into sleep mode after sitting and not being used for 10 minutes. The control may have dropped one of the settings due to a program glitch. I do not know of a way to reprogram this by pushing buttons on the control itself.
You should drive the chair into a local dealer who has a PP1 programmer and let them program it for you. This is a 2 minute deal and they should do this as a courtesy for you at no charge. If a technician comes out to your house they may charge you a minimum 1 hour labor charge.
While they have the programmer plugged in, have them check the fault log for any other problem areas. Hope this helps.

I have a wheelchair using a DL 5.2i controller.when switched on it shows all lights blinking every 2 seconds and no power to the wheels.

Make sure that you are not in freewheel. If you can push the chair and the chairs rolls easily you are in freewheel, look for the freewheel levers and place them in the drive mode. If you are not in freewheel then you could be in sleep mode If you have a manual see if it tells you how to get out of sleep mode. If not within 10 seconds of turning the chair on try pressing the horn button twice and then turn off then back on to see if you stopped the blinking lights. I don't know with the older joysticks how else to get it out of sleep mode. If you are still having problems you can call Pride
Mobility @ 1-800-800-8586 on Monday ask for Jazzy Tech support and they should be able to help

Hope this helps you

lights on joy stick controller blink on and off and chair wont move

Cezna Are the lights that are blimking the battery level lights or they the speed level lights. If it is the speed level lights then the chair thinks you still have the charger plugged in. If it is the battery level lights do a certain number of lights flash 3 lights flashing 4 lights flashes etc this is the flash code and will tell you what problem you have. It could also mean that you are in lockout or sleep mode If you have the VSI joystick then turn on the power immediately push the joystick forward and hold until you hear a beep then mmediately push it to the rear til you hear a beep then immediately let it return to the center position. If it was in sleep mode this should wake it up. Hope this helps you
