Tip & How-To about Baby Gear

Bugaboo Handle Lock

The most common fault with Bugaboo's is the handle lock breaking. To help avoid this happening use that silicon spray that came in the maintenance kit or go out and buy a can. Once a month spay some in to the locks. Look on the inside of the handle where it joins onto the plastic hubs. You'll see a slot in the plastic part and a wire rod in that slot. SPRAY IT!!! It will save you big $$$ in the long run.

I can't open/close my bugaboo frog smoothly. In the demo, you're supposed to push the middle bar while holding on to the handles and the swivel wheels will just pop open. I had to use my other hand to pull the wheels open. Will WD 40 help on the joint?

Silicon Spray is the best lubricant for strollers. Avoid oil based lubricants like WD40. Main reason is they stain fabrics second reason they stay wet and attract dust and dirt, Click here for a more important place to use Silicon spray.www.fixya.com/support/r6671290-bugaboo_handle_lock

how do you oil a bugaboo pram ? Mine is making a horrible squeaking noise. Thank you Megan

Use silicon spray not oil based lubricants like WD40 . Lubricate the wheels and brake lever avoid the handle extension locking levers and the upper handle. Once a month spray some in to the handle locks. Look on the inside of the handle where it joins onto the plastic hubs. You'll see a slot in the plastic part and a wire rod in that slot. SPRAY IT!!! It will save you big $$$ in the long run. If wheels feel gritty remove from stroller and drop them in a bucket of hot soapy water. Rinse under running water give them a good spray of silicon and wipe off excess with a paper towel.

When I open the frame of the bugaboo, I push the knobs towards me and I successfully lift the handlebar up. When I try and lift the handlebar up to kick the wheels out, I can sometimes do it but at other times it seems to lock (entirely). It is not that it is stiffer or anything. I feel as if I am doing something wrong. Any suggestions? Thanks,

There a three parts / assemblies to a Bugaboo Chassis that all pivot around the central hub (the thing with the large chrome domes). The white release buttons only control the handle locks in the outer set of hubs. The two wheel assembles are locked by the seat / bassinet clipping on to the frame and locking the inner hub. This hub is the heart of your Bugaboo and there is a reason Bugaboo put a can of silicon spray in the maintenance kit. Keep those hubs and the brake lever well lubricated and you'll get good service from your Bugaboo. Check out my Tips section for more info.

the stroller is not folding

All strollers like a bit a lubricant and Silicon spray is the best (Bugaboo put a can in their maintenance kits for a reason) Buy a can and spray the handle release then work the release buttons back and fourth. Wipe off any excess with paper towels.

My bugaboo keeps pulling to one side? What's wrong with it?

First check that the handle extension locks hold properly and the handle is not slipping on on side. A handle lock problem (the part that allows the handle to swing from back to front) should be obvious but check both are locking and have the same amount of play. Finally check all four wheels spin freely and the smaller front set can both rotate freely. Your Bugaboo maintenance kit came with a small can of silicon spray. Use it regularly (once every month or two) to lubricate the handle lock, brake lever and wheels. If you find a specific problem let me know and I'll try to help.
