How to setup default browser in XP

Do you know how to set your default web browser in Windows XP?

its pretty easy,

You can set Google Chrome, IE, Firefox, Opera, or whatever browser you

like to be the default all in one location:

1. Open the Control Panel.

2. Open Add/Remove Programs.

3. Click Set Program Access and Defaults on the left pane.

4. Open the Custom area.

5. Select the bullet for the browser you wish to be the default.

Google Chrome and Google are two different things. Chrome is a browser like Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera.
Google on the other hand is search engine. It takes your keywords and search the database it maintains. It can be used on Firefox, IE, etc.
If you do not want the Chrome browser, just uninstall it. You can also leave it installed and set Firefox or IE as your default web browser.

Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft and therefore isn't secure. I'd recommend considering purchasing a new computer, as they start out in the $200-500 range.

Alternatively, you could look into using a modern Linux operating system, instead of Windows XP on your current computer. An easy to use, free distribution is called Ubuntu and can be downloaded from here. https://www.ubuntu.com/
NOTE: Before installing, back up your files and settings.

To solve your browser problem only, you might see if you can get an alternative browser. Here are a few, but I'm not sure if any are still able to run on Windows XP:

Mozilla Firefox Browser
Download Firefox Free Web Browser

Opera Browser
Opera browser The fast safe web browser Download free

Google Chrome Browser
Google Chrome

How do I open A web browser

Well Internet Explorer is a web browser, it comes pre installed with Windows you can run it by going to
Start > All Programs > Internet Explorer.

But Internet Explore (IE) is not the only choice you can install Mozilla Firefox (www.mozilla.com), Opera (www.opera.com), Chrome (www.google.com/chrome).
All these software (IE, Opera, Firefox, Chrome) are called Internet Browsers as they let the user Browse the Internet and order to Open (I assume you want to Run) you'll have to install them.
