How to repair mac hard drives with the disk utility

If you are having problems with crashing slow running or an app not opening or quitting on you this should help.
First start up with the "c" key held down, this does some system housekeeping and boots in to safe boot, if this does not work or you get a folder with a question mark icon then you need to boot from a Cd (or DVD) with computer off and this works for all macs running OSX, insert the Cd into the drive when the mac is off, start with the"c" key held down until the chime or the screen lights up, when booted select language (dont worry you do not have to perform an install) the next screen has a menu along the top, select utilities and you get a new menu, select disk utility and when it has gathered information you will see your hard drive in the left of the window. Select your hard drive and then select "disk repair" run this and it will either pass the disk as Ok, repair the disk or fail it ( the repair is all about the directories where it keeps all the files, if it get corrupted the whole machine gets lost but all your information is ok) If it fails you need a 3rd party utility like DiskWarrior to rebuild your directories. Assuming this goes well then select permissionsrepair, this should be run anytime you install any software or updates (it can be run from the systems own disk utility in the applications folder but the boot disk version is better) it takes a while. When this is finished quit disk utility and from the same menu select start up disk utility and select your hard drive and then select restart.

You may have Malicious software on the phone, run a scan using your phone's software if available. If this started after you added an APP or APP's uninstall them.

My Facebook app keeps crashing, it will come on but goes out in secs.

Assuming this app is on an iOS device (Apple). Following these Several steps should resolve your issue, firstly quit the app entirely by using four fingers swipe up on the tablet, or press the home button twice, either step will show the active apps, find the Facebook app, then with a single finger swipe up, this step should see the app move upwards on the screen, quitting the app. Theis next step requires you to hold the power button and the home button at the same time, until the device shutsdown and the logo appears, then let go of both buttons allowing the device to start/boot completely. Locate your Facebook app, start it, does the problem still exist? If after the above steps you still have the same issue, you can delete the app, by placing your finger over the app & holding until the app jiggles and shows an "x" in the top left corner of the app graphic, touching the "x" will remove the app from your device, you can then re-install the app, finally you may simply need to check to see if the app needs to be updated, by opening the AppStore, and selecting Updates, if an update for Facebook is available for you it will show up here. I hope something within the information has helped.

why does chrome keep running slow or crashing

Possible solutions:
Remove various apps that are part of your Chrome program. If you have a lot of apps, they can conflict with one another (I had this experience). Remove some and Chrome might work a lot better. Reduce the number of different programs open on your computer. Depending on the amount of RAM you have, having too many programs open can slow everything down. Uninstall and then reinstall. This will give you a clean starting point.
