Tip & How-To about Apple iPhone Smartphone

How to check your iOS version, baseband and more before jailbreaking

This will guide you in identifying the following information about your iDevice:

  • Firmware (iOS) version
  • Modem Firmware version (baseband)
  • Model number (MC or non-MC)
  • Serial Number
  • IMEI
  • What device you have (3GS or 3G; iPod touch 2nd or 3rd gen)
  • Whether or not your iDevice is jailbreakable/unlockable

Option 1: For active iDevice (devices that are working properly), you just need to go to: Settings>General>About.

Option 2: You can also use iTunes to see these info. Just click on Software Version, Serial Number and/or Phone Number to show them.

Option 3: For others whose iDevices are DISABLED / LOCKED / STUCK ON EMERGENCY CALL SCREEN, you can use Umbrella to tell you those info.

Option 4: Another program you can use is f0recast. It will tell you whether or not you can jailbreak / unlock your iDevice in addition to the infos mentioned above.

? 1241 what?

You need a iOS version and a Baseband( Firmware version) before you can even consider unlocking a iPhone.

These numbers can both be found in General> About and you are looking for the version number and Modem Firmware?
