Tip & How-To about Kitchen Appliances - Others

Successful Breadmaking Tip

Alot of folks have bread machines but get confused by what flour to use. Unless you are baking whole wheat bread, you need to select a flour from the grocery store that is clearly marked : "Bread Flour" Don't be confused by all the choices of "all purpose flour" "bleached flour" "unbleached flour" etc. .............Just be sure you choose a flour that says: BREAD FLOUR.

I have an 'All-In-One B1561 breadmaker which is producing small and hard loaves. Any recipe with a whole wheat flour is unedible, being so small, compact and hard. Is the breadmaker (about 8yrs old) broken? I have replaced yeast and otherwise use the recipe book which came with the machine, as before.

If you use whole wheat flour without any bread flour (bread flour is marked on the bag) you will have small dense loaves unless you add wheat gluten. The product "vital wheat gluten" is for sale in most grocery stores in the baking aisle. If you don't want to add gluten then you will need to use at least 50% bread flour and 50% whole wheat flour to get a larger loaf. Those are the 2 choices to make large loaves using a lot of whole wheat flour.

Hi, the recipe says bake at "White" the model

Use program #1 if you are using a recipe that contains regular bread flour. If using a combination of bread flour and whole wheat flour and whole wheat is 50% or more of the flour mix use the whole wheat program. Your manual will tell you which program # is the whole wheat one.

i know how I make an exact bread dough , but when I cook it in oven it has not maximum spring in oven and so it is not soft enough , I cannot find how I can solve the problem .

Since you have a bread machine you should just go ahead and choose a program and let the bread machine do the baking for you. It will be at the right temperature and allow your bread to rise better than in the oven.

Be sure you are not using flour that is marked "all purpose flour" you should be using a bag of flour marked "bread flour" unless you are baking a whole wheat bread.

While baking the loaf falls. Why?

Unless you are making whole wheat bread be sure to use flour that says "bread flour" on the bag. NOT all purpose floure etc. only bread flour. My favorite is King Arthur brand of flour....

Hi Mindy.......it takes 30 minutes to PREHEAT this silly machine for wheat bread. I thought I did something wrong, too........I stopped it twice after it preheated for about 15 minutes. I did not want to waste anything so I let it stay in the machine.....I just went to check the machine and it started after 30 minutes of preheating.

I wish they would mention this in the book!!!
