Carberators run to lean

Allot of engines are designed to be fuel efficient and run horrible a short time after purchase. You notice most have no adjustments.Well the secret is to soak your air filter in 10 w 40w motor oil then wipe excess and re install and its running like new again. This concept I developed works very well on motors that are running lean.

How long would I be able to drive with my prelude with the lifter needed adjusted not allot I don't think but would I be able to drive a few days or wat I'm new to this stuff but slowly learning

As long as you do not run at freeway speeds you're ok. for a short time. Expensive engine damage will occur if you ignore this. You don't say what kind of car you have so it's hard to tell if you even have adjustable lifters. Not all engines do.

Hi, I have a 1996 ford probe that runs but has low power / acceleration. A scan (advance auto) registered the code 4 catalytic converter. Removing and punching out didn't help. Does anyone have any ideas 4 diagnosing. Possible culprits: the oxygen sensors, tps, igniter, or ecu / ecm? Thnxs ahead of times guys.

A defective upstram O2 snesor will cause the engine to operate in the "limp mode", which is the ECU\'s attempt to save the engine since it has no combustion efficiency feedback. The engine will run "rich" and the timing may be retarded as well. You will notice the lack of power and poor fuel efficiency.

Two key technologies help make this Suburban a clean and relatively efficient alternative fuel vehicle: GM's Active Fuel Management cylinder deactivation allows this engine to operate on only four of it's eight cylinders under light load conditions. The onboard computer determines if /when appropriate conditions exist for cylinder shutdown, and similarly determines when reactivation should occur. Under ideal conditions as much as 12-15 percent fuel savings can be realized. Flex-fuel capability compensates for the varying ratios of ethanol in the fuel, and adjusts engine parameters accordingly. Higher amounts of alcohol produce cleaner emissions and generally, (but not always) require re-calibrated fuel delivery.

Just purchased a 2003 BMW 330XI and previous owner said he only used regular 87 Octone gasoline and the car runs fine with no pinging. Is this ok or should I use premium unleaded ?

You don't HAVE to put premium fuel in your car, but the maunfacturer's specifications call for it. Therefore, you will get the OPTIMAL power and OPTIMAL fuel efficiency if you follow factory specifications. Premium fuel really isn't that much more expensive. For a regular fuel cost of $2.51 and a 15gal tank its $37.65 to fill up. For premium cost of $2.74 it's $41.10 to fill up. $3.45 a tank is an EXTREMELY small price to pay for better fuel efficiency and power. Besides the better MPG will make up for the rise in price.
