I have a 2005 mercury marquis i shfts good no burnt smell got 75,000 want change filter you recommend a flush also

The filter is in the transmission oil pan. There is a magnet in the pan that will catch and hold loose particles. Flush is a good idea. Filter change is a waste of time and money.

oil change 1994 Cadillac Eldorado

well let me see you have 4.6L engine you need 7.5 quarts of oil with new oil filter.to do the oil change you need large drain pan and oil filter wrench and a metric wrench to remove oil drain plug you need a funnel also.you need first start engine let it run for 5 minutes to warm up thin out the oil so it will flow better.once engine warm up.turn off the engine.open you hood.now safely raise support vechicle on jack stands make sure vechicle parked on solid level ground.place large drain pan under oil pan remove oil drain plug you need a 15m wrench remove drain plug let all old oil drain out until you see slow drip then reinstall oil drain plug dont over tighten drain bolt.then place drain pan under the oil filter then remove oil filter using oil filter wrench or large channel lock pliers.once you remove oil filter wipe oil filter seal surface with clean paper towel.take new oil filter add oil to new filter then install new oil filter hand tight take filter wrench turn oil filter one half more turn dont over tighten will damage oil filter seal.make sure oil pan drain plug is in place. then lower vechicle. remove oil filler cap on the valve cover add new oil to the engine using a funnel to keep from spilling oil all over the valve cover and exhaust manifold.add all 7.5 quarts to oil crank case wait until oil settle down in crank case check oil dip stick oil level should be at the full mark on oil dip stick.dont over fill crank case.once you finished oil level correct crank engine check for oil leaks at oil filter and oil drain plug. if engine running okay you see no oil warning lights you ready wheel and deal.

i have a nosie that sound like my engine is dissel

engine valves noises, either oil too thick.engine oil and oil filter need changing if oil dirty contaminated with gas and antifreeze which will dilute make oil too thin causing low oil pressure causing lifter noise dirt get trapped in lifters orifice holes cause lifter noise.make sure engine not overheating that will cause lifters noise.if engine oil been changed and oil filter been changed either lifters worn or oil passages in the cylinder head need flushing out.i use a can of engine flush.drain out pint of old engine oil out of crankcase.pour engine can of flush in oil crank case start engine let it idle good 10- 15 minutes let the engine flush out sludge build up out the engine cylinder block.now if engine oil is too thin and diluted you need to drain out two quarts and add two good quarts.because if engine oil is too thin diluted it will cause engine bearing failure quick.after you finish the engine flush then you do your oil and oil filter change.after another 300 to 500 miles change oil filter again or get a garage flush out engine if you do it wrong you will damage engine bearings make sure engines has correct oil level. reason i say drain out pint old oil from crankcase and add can of engine flush to keep from over filling crankcase.now if your oil is too thin diluted you need to drain out 2 quarts and add 2 new quarts to keep engine oil getting too thin.engine rinso will thin out oil and flush out sludge carbon build up out of engine block oil passages.when you are done.then you need to change oil filter and engine oil change. do leave engine rinso mix with new engine oil it will thin out oil enough do engine bearing damage.make sure before doing engine flush that oil level on engine oil dip stick at full mark.

alot of sludge in the engine

Yes the bike has a drain plug at the bottom of the crankcase, however it is a (dry sump) which means there is only about one cup of oil in the crankcase, the rest is in the oil tank, the oil filter should also be in the oil tank.....The oil is likely very old and dirty.......it is very thick to start with SAE 60, and pours like syrup....the primary case (housing the primary chain) has it's own oil, about one half quart........ and the transmission has it's own oil also..about two thirds quart....there are engine flush oils, just follow instructions....
