how much ram and what kind of ram

If you are referring to computer RAM always put the largest ram module closest the CPU central processing unit

try to keep the same brand and type of ram the same ie: ddr ddr3.......
you will be able to read the ram type on the ram already inside

make sure you secure the ram modules by pressing the levers down firmly at both ends of of there sockets

make sure your computer is turned of before you attempt this
be sure to wear an earth strap before touching anything inside your computer
the ram modules sockets are located near your cpu

If you're not sure if a module is right for your system, use the Crucial Memory Advisor tool for a list of guaranteed compatible modules.

hope this helps you

I have a Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz 2.79GHz processor and would like to add RAM to my computer. It currently has 512MB but im not sure if my computer will allow me to add more. If i can how do i know what model my motherboard is and how to add RAM to it?

There is an app called cpuz (http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html Download links are on the right side) When you download and run it, the app can tell you what kind of motherboard and ram you currently have. From there you can do a quick google search to see the max allowable amount of ram you can use as well with what kind.

Want to add memory to Gateway 700x

Upgrading RAM on your Gateway 700X (DDR) Computer is easy, Gateway 700X (DDR) Computer takes the PC3200 DDR SDRAM DIMMs. Supports Dual Channel DDR. RAM Type, and comes installed with 512 MB (removable) of RAM.
You can upgrade your Gateway 700X (DDR) Computer to up to a maximum of 2.0 GB RAM, the Computer has 4 sockets to install RAM, already with 512 MB (removable) standard RAM installed. For best Computer performance use the maximum amount of allowed RAM per slot for your system.
