How to Calculate SMD Resistor Code

SMD resistor codes isdifferent from the normal resistor color code (color bands) you had seen in theelectronic circuit boards. Surface mount resistors is very much smaller in than the normal carbon film resistor and because of this the numbers andletters were stamped upon or printed on the top side of the component. Thosenumbers and letters have a meaning and you could use that as information tofind out or calculate the desire resistance values. Sometimes the resistors aredesigned in a very small until we have difficulty to read the code. Byusing a magnifier glass we could easily read the resistor codes. There are two types ofsurface mount resistors used in an electronic circuit board-the 3-digit and4-digit code SMD. The first two digits represent the two digits in the answer. The third digit represents the number of zero's you must place after the twodigits. Theanswer will be in Ohms. For example: 104 which mean 10 0000 (4 zero's)and the final answer is 100k. Let's calculate the 4 digit SMD, 1182 which mean118 00 (2 zero's) and the final answer is 11.8k.

what is the value of resistor 601

600 ohms

A resistor with a number code instead of a letter code is a SMD:
Surface Mount Device. You might have searched for SMD resistor code and got some hits.
The system for SMD resistors is:
1st value-2nd value-multiplier
6 - 0 - 1 following zero
= 600 or 600 ohms
603 would be 60,000 Ohms or 60k
6 - 0 - 3 following zeros

While replacing the caps on on the LCT32HA36 power supply i noticed a corroded solder joint the Z3 diode. When i attempted to re-solder it the trace came off the circuit board and I lost the R3XX surface mount resistor on the underside (i don't know the complete # because it came off with the trace). I need to know the value of the surface mount resistor.

The resistors are color coded. There should be 3 bands which are slightly separate from the 4th band. The 4th band is usually gold, silver,or i forget the third color which is actaually a %.The top 3 bands can tell me the value of the resistor. If you tell me all 4 colors I should be able to tell you the value, with the gold/silver/whatever as the fourth. The first one should be right near the end or top.The only 1 problem will be trying to determine the wattage rating but is usually very small within a circuit.Greg

the value of resistor (R331) on hp laserjet series II ?

Are you sure it is a Resistor and not a solid state fuse? One way is to look on the outer cover of the resistor. The color of the bands are a color code for ever thing about the resistor.... You had to learn it in electronic school.... Refer to your old books...

amp repair advice

check on the board to see if there is a resistor that looks similar, 90% of amps amps are matched in there design, meaning the left side is usally a carbon copy of the right, so if you look at one side and there is a resistor that looks like it's in the same spot on the other side, good chance thats the same one, read the colors off the one thats not burnt up. resistors come in different wattages,1/8,1/4 1/2 up to 10 watts, each wattage is a different size, most of the ones you see in the amp are 1/4 watt but some are 1/2 and 1/8. some on the output are 2 to 5 watt, but those are generally 10-18 mm in length, they are big ones you cant miss those. so once you get the color code, read the colors, ex red, gree, brown, last line is either silver or gold, that will tell you the resitor value. then google resistor color codes and then you can match the color sequence with the value codes, and that will tell you the value you need in ohms but then you have to get the size 1/4 watt resistors are generally about 6 mm in legnth, im measuring the actual part of the resistor not including the metal leads, just the body, so if its larger its probally a 1/2 watt if smaller its an 1/8 watt, 1/8 watt are about 4 mm. now go buy the resistor, but you might find it that tough, if its a common value radio shack might have it, but resistors are so cheap, pennies for a handful, good luck on your search.

how do I fix kick start lockup on a Baja 70cc motorcycle

if the kick starter is stuck that means the piston is probably stuck. Locked up the bike, pull the head off and look at the cyl.
