Tip & How-To about Cameras

What to do when your super zoom camera lens retracted due to a shock or accident

The Super Zooms have very long stratched lense which is very easy to get damaged. If any ways you have a retrected lense due to an accident and have following symptoms I have a solution ( 80% working. I tried on my own camera and it worked. Nikon P80)
1) Your lens is retrected and is not coming out 2) Camera is working but shows lens locked or similar error 3) you can hear the lens motor moving or vibrations from the camera is evident
What you will need...
Claim your warranty first ;) Try this only when you do not have any other options.
You will need something to pull the lens out like a UV filter which connects on the lens' open edge.
Gently pull the lens out thread by thread and keep trying to move lens out by zoom button.
Do it very very slowly and precisely.
Once lens comes out pull out the battery and insert again. If you are fortunate enough your lens will start functioning.

Try jiggling the lens. Use compressed air to blow out any grit around the lens barrel. If that doesn't do it, you'll need to get the camera serviced.

S630 won't turn on

Openings the lense is the last thing you want to try. If you dropped your camera, you may have to. If you did not drop your camera, some dirt somhow got on the sides of the lense and they prevent your lense from closing or opening 100%

Try this first
turn it on and the same time pull the lense out. Your lense may not be open all the way out. OR
Clean the side (outside) of the lense. While turning your camera OFF, push on the lense in NOT too hard. Try that a few times, If the lense retracted 100% or near 100%, just push the lense in a little harder untill it is 100% retrected. Turn it on, It may work now.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

in camera or video mode it says turn the power off and on again

The problem is
1- some dirt somehow got on the outside of the lense. After it was retracted fully in, it prevents the camera from opening again. When you turn it on, if it opens a little bit, try to pull it out NOT too hard and let go a few times. If it opened, clear the outside of the lense. Your camera should be back to normal.
If the lense does not retract, but goes up and down when you turn it on or off, Clean the sides of the lense and while turning the camera off push the lense in NOT too hard for a few times. If it retrected 100% or most of the way inn, push the in a little harder untill it is 100% retracted in. Now your camera should be back to normal. 2- If you droped the camera, you probably damaged or dislocated a mechanical part of the lense. You may have to take out the lense by unscrewing it and inspect it for damaged parts or disconnected cable. Make sure clean the lense and test it by moving it in and out a few times, before puting it back on the camera.

Good luck!!!!!!!

Install LITEON 18X Super AllWhiteDVD/CD Writer&Rewriter Serial no 1502-4020-1203-0757-1127-2659

Lost your DVD Writer means ?
Does it stopped working !
Open The cabinet of the CPU and check the IDE Channel
BUS- cable if that is plugged properly. Also check if the Power plug is properly inserted to your DVD Rom,

If both are checked properly, get the lense of the DVD checked in service center. maximum of the CD/DVD problem arises due to damage in the lense. Anyways, The cost of the lense comes to be almost equal to the DVD ROM price  :)

Pease rate if this fixes your problem
