How do I logon as administer

Hi,

The built-in Administrator account is hidden from Welcome Screen when a user account with Administrator privileges exists and enabled. In Windows XP Home Edition, you can login as built-in Administrator in Safe Mode only. For XP Professional, press CTRL + ALT + DEL twice at the Welcome Screen and input your Administrator password in the classic logon window that appears.
To have the Administrator account displayed in the Welcome Screen, try one of these methods:
Method 1: Using TweakUI Power Toy for Windows XP Download TweakUI from here: v2.00 for Windows XP | v2.10 for XP SP1 and above
Open TweakUI and click "Logon" option in the left pane. Put a checkmark against the option "Show Administrator on Welcome Screen". Click OK to close TweakUI. Logoff and see if Welcome Screen lists Administrator login. Changes are immediate and you can use the Winkey + L to switch back to Welcome Screen to see Administrator account is listed.
Use this procedure to hide/unhide any user account from the Welcome Screen. Please remember, you can still login to a hidden account using CTRL+ALT+DEL classic logon method, but cannot Fast User Switch to a hidden user account.
Method 2 - Manual registry edit
  • Click Start, Run and type Regedit.exe
  • Navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Winlogon \ SpecialAccounts \ UserList
  • Use the File, Export option to backup the key
  • Create a new DWORD Value named Administrator
  • Double-click Administrator, and set 1 as its data
  • Exit the Registry Editor.
For Windows XP Home Edition While you can configure Windows XP Home Edition to show Administrator account in the Welcome Screen, you cannot login as Administrator in Normal mode. Visit the following link for more information:
Error Message: Unable to Log You on Because of an Account Restriction

Please post your feedback and Vote if the problem resolved as per your satisfaction.

Remove User Accounts from the Login Screen in Windows XP So you login to your computer every single day, but there?s morethan one account to choose from? either because you got the computerfrom somebody else, or some software package added a user account thatyou really don?t want to see. So how do we hide that other account fromthe login screen? There?s a simple registry that you can do to hide accounts fromthe login screen, or you could alternatively delete the user account ifyou really don?t need it. Both methods are listed below. Open up regedit.exe through the start menu Run box, and then navigate down to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NT CurrentVersionWinlogonSpecialAccountsUserList On the right-hand side you?ll see a list of keys that correspond touser accounts that are considered ?Special? and are not to be shown onthe login screen Create a new DWORD value with the same name as the user name thatyou want to hide. You?ll note that the actual username in theillustration was ?OtherPerson? and not the description that was shownon the login screen. To unhide the account, simply delete the registry key that you created. The next time you log off you?ll see that the other account is gone. Hide User Account with Tweak UI You can also use the Microsoft Tweak UI PowerToy to do the same thing. (Thanks to Gustav for reminding me to include this) Just click on the Logon key in the left hand side, and then uncheck the box for ?Show on Welcome screen? Login to Hidden Account You can still login to the account even though it?s not shown? You?ll just have to use a little trick. At the login screen, just hit the Ctrl+Alt+Delete combination twicein a row, and you?ll be presented with the old-school login screen, where you have to manually enter the username. Type the name and password of the other user, and login. Delete User Account Alternatively you can always delete the user account if you areabsolutely sure that you don?t need that user account anymore.Right-click on ?My Computer? and choose ?Manage? Navigate down through ?Local Users and Groups? and then Users, and thenlocate the username in the list that you?d like to get rid of. Just right-click and choose Delete. Note that this step cannot bereversed, so make sure you only delete accounts you really really don?twant anymore. If you are unsure, you can just hide them using the firstoption above.

I picked up this program called personal antivirus and I can't get rid of it.i looked in my programs and it's not even there.Any ideas?

go to start menu, then go to "run", then type regedit and hit enter.
Now you are in registry.
Find the HKEY LOCAL MACHINE and expand it, then find Software, and expand it. You should see your program here, right click and delete file.

Do the same with HKEY LOCAL USER

Also go to start menu, search , type program name. When found, right click and delete all files.
