How Cleaning the Prefetch Directory

WindowsXP has a new feature called Prefetch. This keeps a shortcut to recently used programs.
However it can fill up with old and obsolete programs.
To clean this periodically go to:

  1. Star / Run / Prefetch
  2. Press Ctrl-A to highlight all the files
  3. Delete them

I have recently updated my computer to Windows7 but unable to use finepix viewer as it asks for windowsXP. How can I update it please

I believe that windows 7 has a nice thing called Troubleshoot Compatibility. If you can find the executable or shortcut to it, you can right click and Troubleshoot it. Windows should automatically find XP as the best to run the program. Also, if its just a warning you should just bypass it. I can't see any reason why it would work on XP but not 7.

tuneup utilities prefetch data deleted windows 7 slow

I'm getting the Prefetch Data Deleted 'problem' on my tuneup 10 - it's telling me that because the prefetch is empty...yes...but my register is telling me both the Prefetch and Superfetch are set to '3' which is the correct, or default, setting for the feature. There is a program deleting my prefetch data and I want to find which one it is. Opera browser collects application data for offline work, I disabled this cache, and still I get the message from tuneup. Any other programs or browsers I can check?
