Tip & How-To about Cell Phones

Free up space on my Blackberry

We often need a little more memory on our blackberry device, how can we achieve this, by uninstalling software which we do not use. Below instructions are outlined below on how to do so.

  1. Attach blackberry to pc
  2. Run the blackberry desktop manager
  3. Then click application loader
  4. In application loader look for add/remove application
  5. Click start in the add/remove application section
  6. A list of all the applications of the Blackberry Device will be generated
  7. You will see Language and Input Support selected with all the languages selected, you can go through and deselect some of those language , for me I speak English so I deselect every other language which was selected, by doing this you will receive a little more space on your blackberry
  8. You can also go through and deselect some of the games as they take up space and just assist to drain the batteries life
  9. You can also deselect Help
  10. You can also deselect Blackbery application center as it is similar to Blackberry App World
NB: No need to worry if you will deselect core or fundamental or key softwares for the blackberry as these can not be deselected. These software mentioned above are software which some have deselected but you don't have to deselect those, you can go through and see which software you dont need on you phone and deselect those. After which you click next and proceed to uninstalling these softwares.

My Blackberry Playbook won't allow me past the agreement stage of the initial set-up. There is no country shown in the drop down menu. Advice please

Hey Brian,
This might be a little more complex, but it does work. When you plug your Blackberry into your computer, under the software forget your existing device. From there go ahead and reinstall the desktop software. Unplug your Blackberry and run the desktop manager. In the device menu the only available options are Sync Type, Switch Devices and Exit. Power down the Blackberry. In the desktop software, go ahead and click the Switch Devices button and plug in your Blackberry as prompted. From here be sure you have a local wifi you can connect to and the Blackberry should start up as normal.

I want to sinc my Blackberry Playbook to my Windows 7

You need the Blackberry Desktop software installed on the computer to synch your data, music, and video on the Playbook to that on the PC. This software is available here: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/Downloads/browseSoftware.do;jsessionid=F3B0494BF2ABF9E47D9531B30BD6E7BF.node1 . The direct link to the multi-language version of the software is: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/Downloads/contactFormPreload.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22&dl=A2C0D61EB187AB3AFD247A852FAD3647 .

If the above links do not work, start here: http://us.blackberry.com/support/apps-and-software/desktop-pc.html and click on the Downloads for Blackberry Desktop Software. Then use the drop-down menu to select Blackberry Desktop Software Windows OS. Then download the .exe. Below you will find individual language versions. Install the software (in Win7 you need to be the Administrator).

Enable Bluetooth on the computer and pair the computer to the Blackberry.
See http://docs.blackberry.com/en/smartphone_users/deliverables/43033/1196187.jsp for more information.

Next click on Device -> Device Options and go to the General tab. Then set the "When I connect my device" items for those you want to have synchronized.

I hope this helps.

Phone will not start

CauseError 535 means the BlackBerry device is out of memory. The error might appear because the virtual memory thread scheduler ceased when a thread ran out of memory. This error is known to occur during a start-up sequence or if the main event thread ceases.

ResolutionFirst, hard reset the BlackBerry device by pulling out the battery while the device is on. If this does not resolve the issue, obtain the latest version of the BlackBerry Device Software through your service provider. Then, run Application Loader in BlackBerry Desktop Manager to update the BlackBerry device.
