How to remove a virus from your PC's hard drive

Make sure you have an updated antivirus program on an uninfected computer (computer "A") Remove the infected hard drive from the case of the infected computer "B") "Make note of the jumper settings of both drives.(master/slave/cable select) This is so that you can put it back when the virus is gone. Set the infected drive as slave or cable select. And the uninfected \ as Master.Connect drive B to the data cable of drive A then Plug in an extra power cable. After the jumpers are changed.Start Computer A. It then should recognize the B drive and automatically run the antivirus program to clean the drive. When the drive has been cleaned, power down both computers. Return the jumpers of both drives back as they were in the beginning as you noted. Put the drives back in their respectve computers. Start both computers, and the virus is gone now.

I have a question about my Dell 3000 Dimension Desk Top

It sounds like there is a possibility that you could have a virus. If you are looking for a free solution to start out, I would try out Microsoft's Security Essentials. I believe that Microsoft Security Essentials is only supported in Windows Vista as well as Windows 7. You may download Microsoft Security Essentials at the link provided. Let me know if I can help you any further.

If i have a virus on my computer and I format my C drive..that might help to get rid of it right?

You are right, but if it didn't infect only your C drive, then you are still not 100% secured and cleaned. I would suggest you to run full system scan using an updated antivirus program. There are many free antivirus programs which are very effective. You can try Avira Free (click HERE to download). Scanning will take time, but it's better to waste time than wasting data and having a virus infected computer.
Hope this helps.
