How to take apart

Video is short sorry, so locate and remove the 5 screws on the back of ur controller. Push in the middle between the two thumbstick. U will feel it pop. Then go along the sides and carefully pry it open. Take ur time and pay attention to how things are inside. These controllers r a mess inside. To remove the rumble packs u must de-solder them. And to remove the board u need to locate the screw that is holding it in and remove it. DO NOT lose the small foam piece inside that goes under the sensor film. Without that ur controller will not work. GOOD LUCK AND GO ON YOUTUBE FOR A FULL VIDEO

the mirror damper on my Canon AV-1 has been deteriorating (smashed). Are those dampers truly essential to the camera's proper function?

Basically, yes. The function of this foam is to both prevent mirror slap and reduce vibration, as well as to protect the mirror. The foam is easy, and cheap to replace, mirrors are not. Spend the $5 for the foam and not the $100 for a broken mirror.

how do I open up the earphone to refasten the mounting screw

1. Carefully remove the ear pad.
2. There is a shiny plastic cover over the speaker with some foam padding. Gently pry this off - it is sticky.
3. You will now see the speaker holder - it is round and has 4 slots. If you gently rotate it anti clockwise it can be removed, releasing the speaker.
4. Under the speaker is a small round plastic sticker, this protects the back of the speaker from the screw - remove it.
5. You will now see the screw head - cross head screw - tighten it back onto the headpiece and re-assemble all components.

My shure e4s have a larger nozzle than other e4s and scl4s I seen. This makes buying comply foam tips near impossible. Is there any chance my earphones could in fact been a variation of the e4s?

I think you have counterfeit E4 earphones. All genuine E4 earphones had the smaller nozzle. Also, on a genuine E4 earphone, the silver colored ring is metal and unscrews from the body of the earphone. If the silver colored ring on your earphones is plastic and does not unscrew, then they are counterfeit.
