Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Jumping cursor issue?

It's all in the drivers. Touchpads have two brands I know of, ALPS and Synaptics. This issue is very known to Lenovo G550 series. You can't find the most updated driver that can eliminate the problem from lenovo's driver site though, sad to say, but you can get it here

>scroll down a bit on that site and click on the red DOWNLOAD button. this is the download site for Touchfreeze, it helps eliminate the issue, but, if ever problem continues go to this website

Hi rbdav1,

Based on your situation. I suggest trying the following steps:

1. Download touchpad driver from here:

http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=600154

2. go to Touchpad section and make sure you select the Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 version of the drivers that matches your Windows operating system.

3. After downloading the touchpad driver driver install it and then restart your computer.

4. Log back in to your computer then go to control panel --> open mouse properties then look for Alps pointing device tab.

5. Under Alps tab uncheck tap off when typing.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for using FixYa

Best regards,

my touchpad works but not its multi gesture its emachines D730

most touchpad drivers will work on windows 7 but the program which control the functionality of the touchpad "Synaptics" or ALPS" pointing device may not be compatible in win7 this is an issue with most computer manufacturers but not their fault since win7 is a new operating system and possibly in the near future who knows when windows will come with a windows update to make touchpads work in windows having all it's functionality available.

try calling your computers maker and ask if they have work arounds for your touchpad some may have options to make all your touchpads functionality work but some may not try calling them and have them check it for you, they should know better since they are trained for the specifics of your system.^_^
