Battery not fully charging on a Craftsman 48 volt electric mower model # 18A-188-799

Model # 247.37048.0 Check battery voltage. There are four 12 volt batteries on board. First make sure batteries are charged for one hour. Do not overcharge batteries while there is a bad battery in the system. Now it's time to pull off the cover by pushing a flat head screwdriver thru one of four holes on the sides of the black cover. Press slightly down on black cover and pull slightly up as you are pushing inward. Continue one the other three. You are wanting to push the black part attached to the cover back and away from the white part holding the cover down. Picture shows black cover tab that you will push slightly back. in towards the mower. Remember, it's a tab that is straight back and only has to be moved an 1/8 of an inch towards the motor.

Make sure not to pull the cover all the way until you have disconnected the meter that's connected to the cover. Next, take a voltage meter and check the voltage on each battery. The batteries are towards the back of the mower. Use a voltage meter that tests at least 15 volts. Check each battery by placing the red lead on the red battery post or tab. Replace any battery that doesn't read better than 12 volts.

Okay, I'm working on a scooter for my nephew that originally came with (2) 12 volt 12Ah batteries minus the charger. and I know I need to replace them with (2) batteries of the same 12 volts and lets

not exact, to charge apropiate needs 10% more than nominal voltage. if not, will not charge the batteries.
And the charger its very important because you can over charge the battery. An example,if you have a 12 Amps Batteries each one if you put it in series will be 24 Volts.at parallel conection will be 12 volts but the double of Amps.
At serial connection will be 12 Volts the amps will be the same but the volts will be 24.

The charger at 12 Volts must be 13.8-14.5 DC Volts and divide the Amps in Hours.
The charger at 24 Volts must be 26-28 Volts. to charge well.

The charger for 12 amps batt example must charge 2 amps per hour at 6 hours = 12 Amps.(2 Amps Charger by 6 Hours Charging= 12 Amps.(Fully Charged.
3 Amperes Charger needs 4 Hours to charge 12 amps Batt.
5 Amperes Charger needs 2 Hours charging an a quarter
All of this is at DC Current.

Luck.

Your battery may bad. Unhook it,check voltage, charge it 24 hours. Check voltage, should about 12 volts. Let set 24 hours, check voltage , if not 12 volts, no good.

My son has a 700 twin sportsman peg-perego four wheeler. Weve charged thae battery . But when we hook it up the four wheeler will only go really slow as if the battery is dying or dead. Does it need a new battery or could it be something else?

check the battery with a multimeter and see if its showing 12 volts or more, if it is showing volts but not 12 or more then put it on the charger for about 8 hours, then check the battery again if it still hasn't went up check the voltage of the charger with the multimeter and make sure that the charger is putting out 13.8 volts or more, iif it isn't then you need a new charger, if it is then you need a new battery

DSealed Lead Acid Batteries: 12v 7ah; belongs in a Liftmaster LA400 gate control box. Can these batteries be charged using a trickle charger? I'm trying to find out if it's the battery not holding a charge or if it's a bad gate control board. It has 4.85v reading now. If it charges to 8 or so in a few hours, should it hold the charge of 8 with nothing draining it? The battery is on a work bench at the present time and not installed.escribe your Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+ Problem

Yes you can charge the 12 volt bttery on a trickle charger. You should use a 1 amp or less charger. Check the battery every 1/2 hour or so for heat. If it get's hot you should stop charging. Power packs that have a 12 volt rating will charge your battery safer and better but will take longer (like a cell phone charger) look at the voltage ratings on the charger. You will have to adapt the plug to hook it up and test for correct pos. and negative connections. The 7amp hour batery should be fully charged by a .5 amp (500ma) charger in about 14 hours (multiply the amps times hours of charge and do not go over the 7amp hours of the battery when deciding how long to charge). After charging check voltage, it should be around 12. Let the battery set for a few hours (overnight) and check the voltage again. It should be around 12 still. A fresh charge will usually show a higher reading (called a surface charge) than a battery sitting around. 4.5 v will not operate your device, 9.5 v or higher should.
