1. The Hard Drive is bad. This can happen when a sector of the hard drive is corrupted and the information contained on it was vital system files for loading the Mac OSx system.
2. The RAM. Sometimes when loading the OS, it loads into the RAM. This executes some of the short programs that can cause the system to get stuck.
3. Sometime the operating system just craps out. This will require you to enter recovery mode. Just restart your computer and hold down the R key and it should load into the recovery partition.
Indicates that your windows installation is corrupted, possibly the base files damaged. If you have a windows CD, boot from it and at the prompt to repair, where it "finds" a previous installation of windows, run a repair installation.
If that fails, you may need to reformat and do a full install ( this will wipe all files on the drive), so if you know someone with a docking station, or can slave your hard drive to recover vital files, now is the time to do it
Please take a close look in your System restore pane are there any restore point(s). If there are no restore points you will not be able to restore your system. System restore point is an image file taken from a previous Windows state is time and is vital to restore your system.
