Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Finding Recent Items

Ever open something and then forget where it was that you put it? If you're like me, you prefer the easiest possible solution to a problem. While there are other ways of finding documents you were recently using, the simplest is a little-known trick you can use with the Recent Items menu in your Apple Menu.

All you need to do is hold down the command (Apple logo/"clover") key while you have the Recent Items menu open and the option for each item will change to 'Show [item] in Finder'. Just click on that document you JUST had open, and a Finder will will open showing you exactly where it is.

i forgot my secret question

idk how to solve this problem completely, but i do know that the easiest thing to do is when you write the secret question down on the dsi,you should write it down an something and then put it in a very safe place that no one can get to and that you will remember or make a completely easy question that will be easy for you to remember and for it to be something that you can get stuck in your head so that you won't forget it.

job automatically stops

It might be easiest to reset the printing system and then add your printer(s) again. It may be that you have something stuck in the printer queue that is causing the problem.

To reset the printing system in OS X 10.5.x, open the Print & Fax System Preference. Control-click (right-click) in the list of printers on the left side. Choose the option to reset the printing system. You will need to add your printer again after you reset the printing system.

Another possibility is that you may need to reset something from the printer's control panel. The printer may be rejecting your jobs until fault from the previous job is cleared.

scanned files placement

Hi kbush58,

Yes, you can choose where or create a new destination file for your scanner. Your printer should have management utility. On the first page you see there should be a toolbar with items like File, Tools> preferences etc.. preferences is what we want. In Pref. you can browse where you want your scans, copies or whatever to go. This is where creating a new folder comes in. I always tell everyone that it is easiest to create the new folder on your desktop, that way you don't forget where it is. Name the folder anything you want I would suggest psc2210scans or whatever. In device utility/prefrences browse to your new folder and select it, that's it. Now your unit will deliver your data here. I hope this helps you.

Thanks for using FixYa.com

Sincerely, cyyyd7
