Tip & How-To about Nintendo Wii Console

Nintendo wii Error Code 61070 fix

Error Code 61070

  • Make sure that your Internet connection is compatible with the Wii console's online service. You must have broadband Internet (Cable, DSL, or Fiber Optic) and a compatible wireless router. For more information, click here.
  • If you have verified that you are using a compatible Internet connection, then it appears that your Wii console's Internet connection may be affected by wireless interference. Try the following:
    • Change your wireless router's channel to 1 or 11
Changing the wireless channel on your router may help. Most wireless routers have a channel range of 1 through 11. The best channels to try are usually 1 and 11, as they do not overlap with other channels. Typically, the channel settings for your router will be found in the router's main "Wireless" tab.
    • Where is your wireless router located?
Move your router away from walls and off the floor and try to place it in a central location in your home. Also, keep it away from metal objects such as metal filing cabinets which can cause interference.
    • Look for other devices
Noise from cordless devices (cordless phones), or wireless electronics (wireless keyboards, headphones, cell phones), especially those using the 2.4GHz frequency, can interfere with your wireless signal. Also, older microwave models can cause wireless interference. Avoid electronics that use the 2.4GHz frequency, instead look for devices that use the 5.8GHz or 900MHz frequencies

Check for wireless interference, which can affect the signal strength to the Wii console. To help minimize wireless interference, try the following:
Make sure other wireless devices such as cordless phones or wireless speakers are turned off, and that the Wii console is an open area without objects or electronics blocking the signal. (For instance, if the Wii is placed in a crowded entertainment center, try moving the Wii somewhere with more room.) Change your router's channel setting to 1 or 11. By default, most routers broadcast on channel 6, which overlaps with other channels and may be weaker. For help doing this, click here and select your router brand and model (if available). I plugged in my wii LAN adapter and tried to test it but didn't work?Wired Connection

Make sure you are using the Wii lan adapter made by nintendo
  1. Make sure you are using a "broadband" internet connection, such as high speed cable or DSL. Slower connection types, such as dial-up, may not work properly with the Wii console. If you are unsure what type of connection you have, please contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for more information

  2. It is possible that your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is not compatible with the Wii console. For instance, if you need to login with a user name and password when you try to go online for the first time after restarting your PC, your ISP is likely not compatible. Please contact your service provider for more information.

  3. Your access point (wired router, broadband modem*) may have certain firewall settings that are preventing a successful connection.

Error Code: 52130 There appears to be an issue with your wireless router's firewall.

  1. Make sure your router is not listed on our "known incompatible routers" page, by clicking here.

  2. Try a "Manual Setup" with the Wii console (how to), using your network's IP configuration settings. To access these settings:
    1. On your PC, click "Start" and then "Run."
    2. Type "CMD" into the field that appears to open a new window.
    3. Type "IPCONFIG/ALL" and press "Enter" to display a list of internet settings. Locate the settings asked for by the Wii console during the Manual Setup process and enter them.
    4. Power cycle your router and modem by unplugging them both from the wall. Wait a few minutes, and plug the modem back in. Wait a couple of minutes for the modem to initialize, then turn on the router. Try to connect the Wii console online and test for proper response.

  3. Disabling your router's wireless security may help the Wii console's online connection. Consult your wireless router's manual or check with the router manufacturer for more details. Please note Nintendo provides these recom mendations as a resource to our consumers; it is up to each consumer to determine if adjusting their router's security settings are the right choice for their home network.

  4. It is possible that your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is not compatible with the Wii console. For instance, if you need to login with a user name and password when you try to go online for the first time after restrarting your PC, your ISP is likely not compatible. Please contact your service provider for more information.

Wii wired internet connection problems

if you have all of these
Requirements to Connect the Wii Console Online with a Wired Connection In order to connect the Wii console online with a wired connection, you will need the following:
  • A Wii LAN Adapter (where to buy)
  • An active broadband internet connection, such as DSL or Cable.
  • A compatible Internet Service Provider (ISP). Some ISPs require a sign-in every time you connect online, or are otherwise incompatible. Contact your ISP for more information.
  • Either a cable modem or wired router with an available ethernet port. (DSL users: while some DSL modems may be compatible, our experience has shown that many are not. We recommend using a router.)
  • An ethernet cable.
