Tip & How-To about Cell Phones

How to fix internet or picture message problems

If your phone wont access the net or keeps coming up with an error or the same with picture or mms message then their is a simple solution.

all you need to do is contact your service provider and tell them the make and model of your phone, you then need to ask them to send you the latest wap and mms settings, your service provider wont charge for this service and they will send you the settings via text message, this will then update your phone to the correct settings and then that will solve your problems.

my phone wont send media messages its a samsung eternity

My wouldn't either. I went in to "Menu"- "Messaging"-"Message Settings"- "Multimedia Messaging"- "MMS Profiles". I had 3 choices on the next screen... Since I use AT&T I checked 'AT&T MMS" My other choices were "media Net and AT&T IMS" Media net was checked but after I changed it to "AT&T MMS" I was able to start sending pictures and videos. Hope this helps. ~CherylofTexas~

When you receive the message with id and password, it usually means that either your phone is not multimedia messaging compatible or your account is not provisioned with the actual multimedia messaging feature itself.
If unable to send or receive a picture message (MMS), troubleshoot accordingly:
  1. Attempt to connect to MEdia Net on the device. Connectivity to MEdia Net confirms the device has enough signal strength and GPRS availability to send and receive MMS.
  2. Verify MMS is being sent to an AT&T subscriber. If MMS message is being sent to someone other then an AT&T wireless services subscriber, verify that the carrier is supported.
  3. Picture messaging settings are pre-configured on all devices purchased from AT&T. If the settings have been altered or if the device was not purchased from AT&T, validate picture message settings are properly configured.
  4. Attempt to send an MMS again.
  5. If further assistance is required, please contact Customer Care.

If problems occur, please perform the following troubleshooting steps:
  1. Verify device has signal strength.
  2. Check for a GPRS attach on the device.
  3. Verify the browser settings are correct.
  4. Clear the browser cache.
  5. Power cycle the device (turn off and back on).
  6. Attempt to access MEdia Net again.
  7. If unable to access a particular MEdia Net site, check to see if the site is supported by AT&T.
  8. If problem persists, please contact AT&T Customer Service for wireless customers.

Receiving picture messages

The MMS settings provided by your network service provider don't all work with each other. Some are compatible with your network some are not, if it's not, you get a msg giving you the URL where you can pick up your pics.
Also the pic taken on a particular format ie. Sony Ericsson w810i sent to a Nokia 1100, wont work because one phone has a large colour screen the other has a B/W small screen, so the Nokia 1100 would not be able to open the file.
