Tip & How-To about eBay Auctions

How to setup an eBay seller account!

Hi guys and eBayers! Today, I'll be giving you ideas on how to list on eBay. First of all, in order for you to list your items on eBay, you'll need to register for an account. You can go to their site and click the register link on their homepage. After that, you need to create a seller account, you can do this before creating a listing or while creating the listing. To create a seller account, just cick the "Site Map" link found at the bottom of most eBay pages then go to the middle column and scroll down and click the "Place or Update Credit Card on File" link. After that, you'll be directed to a page where you need to enter your credit card information, if you don't wish to use your card, just click the "Cancel" link beside the Continue button. if you choose to cancel, you'll get to the page where it will ask you for an Automatic Payment Method. You can select PayPal or Direct Pay (checking account). Once it is successful, you'll have a Seller Account and you're now ready to list. For first time sellers, I believe they have the phone verification wherein you'll receive an automated call that you have on file. And a suggestion, before selling on eBay, make sure that you have a PayPal Verified account linked to your eBay account.

Happy selling on eBay!

I lost my tracking number for my eBay order

To check the shipping status of your item from My eBay:
  1. Click My eBay at the top of most eBay pages. You may need to sign in.
  2. Click the Purchase History link on the left side of the page.
  3. Locate the item in the list. If the seller printed the shipping label using eBay or PayPal, or entered a tracking number for an item, you'll see the tracking number under the item title. Click the tracking number to see the package's shipping status.

can't list

Hi there!

There are different reasons why you can't list an item. First if your account is suspended or has a selling limit. But since you are able to create your selling account then you should be able to list an item. First you need to check your payment method on file, make sure that you have a credit card on file to increase your selling limit or a premiere or business paypal account. Next, once you created your draft, you will see that again if it didn't list. Go to sell and then click the list button and then you will see the complete button on the right side. Click it so that you'll see the sell your item form that you used to create the draft. Then since you already created your selling account, just go to the next page until you see the List your item button. Just click it and you should be able to list your item. If eBay will not allow you, you will see an error message. If you do, please reply in this message.

there are different types of selling limits, for example you can list up to 10 items or $500.00 in a month, usually this is for new sellers or those who doesn't have a established selling activity on eBay. there is also the category limit, wherein you can only list 1-4 items per month depending on what you are listing. for branded items, you need to be a verified right's owner or a dealer of that said item so that you can list more of it. for more info about selling limits you can contact eBay and you can ask for the safe harbor department. they will give you more information about selling limits.

I hope this helps a bit.

There is a buick for sale in Philadelphia,Pa. and I live in that city and I sent the person 3 e mails that I was interested in his car and would like to see the car. After three e mails still no answer. What can I do? This might be some kind if scam? Respectfully Ron Faries

First check if there is an item number (12 digits) and if there is then locate it on eBay.com or at motors.ebay.com. Check if there's a listing like that. You will need to log in to your eBay account so that you can bid or buy it now the item. If you don't have an eBay account, then you need to create one.

If you see the item in a different site, do not continue. eBay will not cover that item under the buying protection if it's not listed on their site.

Here's how the REAL transactions work on eBay:
1. buyer sees the item listed on eBay
2. buyer buys/bids on the item ( Checking an reading the item description with an understanding of the item that they want to purchase)
3. buyer wins item (the buyer can now request the phone number of the seller if the buyers has concerns about the item.)
4. buyer's name appears as winner on the listing
5. item number appears in "Items Won" in buyer's My eBay page
6. seller sends an invoice
7. buyer pays the seller (buyer does not pay eBay)
8. seller ships item/ buyer picks up item

I hope this helps. Have a good one! Don't forget to rate!

PS: Also, do not send check, money order, wire or bank transfer. Check eBay's Accepted Payment methods.
