How to do a soft reset on a Philips GoGear player

The soft reset for the Philips GoGear players are to simply Press and hold the Power button and the Volume up button for a couple of seconds until it goes off. Then turn it back on using the Power button as you normally would.

Hope this helps..

the screen is frozen on the PHILIPS icon and when i reset it it did nothing, but when i put it on the charger then reset it, it starts charging, but when i take it off the charger it goes back to the PHILIPS icon. i even tried to hold the off button combined with the volume and down button. it worked earlier in the day and then when it "went to sleep" i turned it on and it froze

Hi,

Please follow the below steps and check if that resolves the issue:

  1. Press down on and hold the "Power" button on your Philips GoGear MP3 player.
  2. Press down on and hold the "Volume Up" button on your Philips GoGear MP3 player. Continue to hold both of these buttons down for three consecutive seconds. The MP3 player will turn itself off.
  3. Press and hold "Power" until your Philips GoGear MP3 player turns itself back on. Your GoGear will no longer be frozen and you can use it as normal.
If you require further assistance then please revert back.

My gogear is frozen. One song ended and before the next one started it froze and it has been like this for several hours. It doesn't respond to any of teh buttons being pushed

Try doing a soft reset. 1. Press and hold the Power on/off key and the volume + key for a couple of seconds. 2. Then switch on the GoGear using the Power on/off key. Note: Your songs and data will not be lost or corrupted by a soft reset. Update your players firmware to the latest version to reduce the chance of future hang-ups. Music seconds dont start counting and theres no sound!

Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:

Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.

PHILIPS GOGEAR 6GB

The same thing happened to me. I contacted Philips and they sent me this solution, which worked for me. Question My GoGear has no power/no display even connected to the power supply with the AC adapter. What should I do? Answer Do a soft reset by pressing and holding the Power On/OFF button and the volume + key for a couple of seconds. Then connect your GoGear to a power outlet with the AC Adapter to charge the player again for around 30 minutes. Try turning the unit back on and see if the display appears. If the display is able to come on again, keep the player connected for another 3-4 hours until it is fully charged before use, else contact our Customer Care Center for assistance.
