I suppose you could, but you are talking about a driver (speaker) that was not designed for that cabinet size and amplifier used in the Kenwood, There are differences in speaker design besides power rating and impedance.

Diameter is the distance from edge to edge.

RMS (Root Mean Square) is the term for power in watts.

Neither influence the other.

It is the root mean square (abbreviated RMS or rms), roughly 0.707 of the peak wattage of an AC source. Crutchfield lists it at >power range: 2-110 watts RMS (450 watts peak power)

I have a Samsung HT-C550, is there a separate power switch or something for the Sub-woofer? It seems to not have a lot of power.


If it is making any sound at all then it is "on".

Check your subwoofer function and level with Test Tones (page 29) and Auto Sound Calibration (page 30) and don't expect too much from an 8-lb 6.5" subwoofer and a multichannel amp that only draws 75 watts of electricity. Maybe place the sub nearer to a corner.
