Tip & How-To about Electronics - Others

Keep your electronic inventory.

As I had seen on many forums we go searching for a simple electronic component when the same was junked long ago without a value. I feel that with our negligence we are creating more electronic waste when some of it could be recycled and used sometimes benefitting us economically.
So My tip is to keep some of the parts from the old sets you want to junk off. You can keep an inventory of circuits boards which has a good population of active and passive electronic components from which as the need comes a transistor, diode, resistor, capacitor, coil or an op amp can be salvaged instead of paying a high price. Also many small mecchanical components like springs, bushes, levers, motors can be salvaged. I was saddened by the disposal of tons of VCR'S for junk when in hte 80's each of it was costing a fortune. Some of them contain a great deal of parts and will come to good use sometime. I have maintained a museum of all the transistion home appliances/ products and the inventory is really worth.
I this forum I come across many enthusiasts asking for shops to get a condenser mic as the dealer says to change whole unit, or a universal diode etc...,
We need changes , improvisation and development but what use is to the average person of the latest mobile phone when only 20-30% of users are aware of the actual user menu and do not need a phone but to call, text with a memory. Are we listening?
Hope you like my special tip.!..

Typical Jaguar Dealership attitude. You didn't have them repair the collision damage, and they are punishing you.

Great car, lousy dealer attitude.

pop spilled into car's dvd player about 1.5 months ago which I didn't realize. Now the DVD player won't ''****'' in the DVD. Thoughts? Help? If I can't fix it, who do I contact to fix it? I would think the dealership would be very pricey. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I imagine the liquid made the leads to some electronic components rusty and deteriorated., since it took that long to stop working. Electronic components have value, and replacing them requires exact same value. I imagine it has what you call surface mount technology in which the components are so small, that it is very difficult to replace. Sadly there is no easy fix when dealing with electronic circuits. Me trying to show you how to fix it would be futile, since electronic circuits and theories take a long time to learn, and almost like a college course.
