Tip & How-To about Cell Phones

7 ways to extend the life of cell phone battery

Batteries don’t last longer than a few days. But to be fair to the battery designers we have to admit that nowadays’ smartphones require much more energy than phones 10 years ago. We can’t really compare them but what we can do is use them with more care. Here are a few good tips how to go about it:

1. Turn off your Bluetooth – I find Bluetooth to be the most power hungry application; turn it off when you don’t use it

2. Disable sounds and vibrating alert – you don’t really need keypad tones to be on, do you? What about vibrating? It is surely useful on the meetings or in a cinema but most of time you’ll do just fine without it; I usually set up a vibrating profile to be used in places like cinema or theatre and in all other profiles I have vibrating turned off

3. Brightness – lower the brightness of your screen; not too low, otherwise you’ll destroy your vision

4. Setting the Power saver time-out and the Light time-out to the low values will help too (you’ll find them in the display settings)

5. If you are not using an application switch it off – you’ll get a list of all active applications by long pressing the menu button; this is a general rule that can be applied to any device

6. Games – it’s fun to play games on your way to school but they are power-hungry beasts; I can’t tell you not to play games but think about your battery when you are playing

7. Turn off your phone when you don’t use it – I know that for many of you this is not an option and I’m not sure if turning it off and on is even good for your battery but I heard this tip from so many people that I just had to mention it

I want best battery for canon power shotA400

You too? :) Great little camera - but woefully inadequate power-sourcing.

My PowerShot A400 now only runs on 2x Energizer 'Ultimate Lithium'
batteries at $12 a pair... and last no longer than three weeks or about 50 images.

Won't be buying one of these again. I love the camera - but changing the batteries every few days is just way too expensive. Poor design.

Hi! My name is Steve ,and i want you know if its normaly to keep my battery working just 2 days, after then i must recharging

Hi Steve,

Well, it depends on the type of phone as to why your device is only lasting 2 days of battery power.

Your phone, the Nokia N70 is rated to last 3.5 hours of talk time, or 11 days of standby time, meaning if you are not using the phone that's how long the battery will last when the phone is on but the screen is off and you have minimal apps running on your phone.

Which means that you must be using your phone for more than just calling. For most people, they can barely get 2 days of battery real life on this phone, especially if you are a power user.

It is a color screen phone and that is one of the reasons why it uses up battery so much. The other reason is because it is connected to the internet as well.. that draws a lot of battery over just a regular flip phone. Nowadays, people using a smartphone can only get a day's worth of battery life out of their battery. Although, some smartphones can last 2-3 days or longer depending on battery size, how its software regulates drawing/using battery, and the technology inside the phone. The Nokia N70 has a 970 mAh battery compared to the new smartphones with as much as 3000 mAh batteries.

Alkalines won't work in my 360 controller.

there are units designed to run on rechargeable batteries and some that run on alkaline batteries
the difference is the current draw required
alkaline batteries have a high discharge rate available but for short duration while the others have a smaller discharge rate but over a longer period of time
you should only use the type of batteries recommended for the unit

Batteries always low

If you're using regular alkaline batteries that?s fairly common. If you want longer life most people purchase rechargeable nickel-metal hydride batteries and a charger. Depending on the camera you?ll get 40 or more flash images out of a charging. I have two sets, one in the camera and one in the charger. Expect to pay about $5 to $10 for a set of four and around $10 or $20 for a charger, make sure its for nickel-metal hydride batteries and not the old style nickel-cadmium. Good luck and don?t forget to rate this post.

Yes, unfortunately, although it's normally the mouse that eats batteries (and not cheese, contrary to belief), the only thing to do to give you a little longer is to use re-chargeable batteries. I am convinced batteries nowadays are a poorer quality than a few years ago, no matter who's brand you use.
