This solution is for the following error codes 31, 32, 19, 39 and 41 shown in device manager in device status.
If your cd or dvd drive isnt working properly but you can see it in the device manager, and it has worked before.
And if you have tryed uninstalling it, updateing drivers and so on and it hasnt worked?
Then I suggest you try remoteing the lower and upper filters from your windows registery as they most likely are the problem.
Windows key + r or start -> run. That will open the run menu
Then type in regedit.
you need to browse into HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
and delete the lower and upper filters from the right side of the window.
A restart is required.

Hi! I have a optiarc dvd rw ad-7560A ATA device, and I did what you suggested...It didn't work... :s
I'm getting desperate...I eliminated the lower and upper filters, but my drive won't read CDs or DVDs... It just says, "insert a disk" as if I don't have any in it...
Please help me!!!

Thank you Ekse,
I too found myself with my LG CDRom RW not responding and doing all the things you mentioned. So of course my next stop was FixYa. My problem has already been experienced and fixes made available.
From now on if I encounter any other computer problem (prior to this fix, I already got a solution for unrelated problem) I will come here first.
Thanks Again,
PS....this was my first experience using RegEdit and actually affecting a change in the Registry. Without those instructions I would have no idea what to do. Tks.
