Tip & How-To about Air Tools & Compressors

How to improve air compressor dew point?

Have you found the water on your compressor air discharge?

If this happen, I'll tell you that you have bad dew point of air. This is because either your compressor has no moisture trap built in or moisture trap is not work properly. To prevent this condition I suggess you to install another water / moisture trap ( J-trap ) on your compressor discharge pipe together with mechanical auto drain and manual drain valve on bottom your new trap. This will give alot improvement of air quality goes to the load. Many brand you can found on market like CKD, SMC etc.
No electricity required for this equipment. It has clear glass, so you can know whether it is clog up or still work properly. If it is clog up , you can clean all parts inside easily by washing it with soft detergent soap.

It is so easy and effective.

My dehumidifier sh3030 is not collecting water but is running fine

You say it's running "ok", but there is no water discharge. If that is true then you have absolutely no moisture in your air and that is practically impossible. So we can say effectively that it is NOT running "ok". Fell the discharge air from the unit. If it is roughly room temperature rather than substantially warmer that than the air in the room, then you have found a problem. That problem would be that while the fan may be running, the compressor that heats that air and gets the condensation going is not. If you feel little or no air from the discharge, then you could have a clogged coil or filter (you checked that), or a bad fan.

troubleshooting guide

It is normal for properly maintained AC unit to condensate, as the coil drops below dew point it will condensate the water in the coil cabinet and water should flow out condensate drain.
causes... drain stopped up .... correction.. clear drain. Other causes could be low air flow... Dirty Filter.. Dirty Coil ... Obstructions to discharge air grills closed or blocked... others
could be improper Refrigerant charge, Dirty blower vanes blower cabinet not level. All things easily corrected with a Service call by a reputable service company. Good Luck I hope this helped you.

How does a dew point hygrometer work?

A dew-point hygrometer uses a metal mirros to catch moisture from the air to tell you the dew point, at what temperature the condensation appears is the dew point. For a better and more clear explanation see http://www.ehow.com/list_7153637_types-hygrometers.html

Hi I have a Dometic rooftop AC, when turned on the blower works but it seems when the compressor tries to initiate there is a huge power draw, the lights dim and then it returns to normal. This happens over and over while trying to run. There is no cold air being discharged.

This is an inductation that the com[pressor is either lockup internally or you have a bad contactor or bad capisitor .. hard to tell really .. My money is the compressor is locked up for some reason. Soory to tell you this but thats where I would go first .

Your dehumidifier may be low on refrigerant. Seems cold may not be cold enough to reach the dew point to condense moisture from the air stream.
