Tip & How-To about Garden
Do you have a beautiful white vinyl stockade fence surrounding your property? Want to minimize the amount of times you have to clean it due to mold, etc.
If you do or if someone you know does, remember when the fence was first installed in the yard....God wasn't it really pretty.... then after a few months of the damp and hot weather do you remember seeing the green mold starting to form all over it???
Well I have a suggestion for not only cleaning this form of plastic but for also helping to preserve it against any further mold growth in the future.
I mix a solution of bleach and 1 oz dish soap in a plastic bucket along with an anti fungicidal swimming pool solution approx 6 oz. of this to two gallons of water and two cups of bleach, I also combine a car wash/wax solution 2 oz. in with the mixture to help preserve the plastic finish and to help fend the green mold from taking hold of the fence.
I try not to use a power washer as they seem to only hit the fencing so hard they open up the pores in the plastic leaving the fencing vulnerable to any further mold growths that may occur in the near future.
Use a soft bristle with a telescopic handle and a good pair of water proof gloves with protective eye wear .
The anti fungicidal solution is used in swimming pools to prevent mold from forming on the plastic liners so I figured it can't hurt to use it on the vinyl fencing material as well, for any of you folks that have washed down these fences I am sure you dont want to do this too many times in a 12 month period, so whatever works will be greatly appreciated.
I hope these little ideas help you all and as always....
Happy Mold Cleanup!!!
