Calculate the acceleration of gravity on the surface of Mars, give the mass of Mars = .11mass of Earth, and the radius of Mars = .53radius of Earth.


Let g_e the acceleration of gravity at the surface of the Earth, M_e the mass of the Earth, and R_e the radius of the Earth
For Mars, we have g_m, M_m, and R_m.
g_e=G*M_e/(R_e)^2
g_m=G*M_m/(R_m)2
g_m/g_e=(M_m/M_e)*(R_e/R_m)^2=(0.11)(1/0.53)^2=0.11/(0.53)^2
g_m=0.11*g_e/(0.53)^2
