Tip & How-To about Televison & Video

Viewsonic n1930 factory reset

One year and 3 days after purchase, my Viewsonic TV went gray after turning it on. After doing the obvious (unplugging the power, playing with the buttons, checking the manual), I called the customer support center. A very nice lady gave me the secret to the factory reset.
Hold down the "on" button, the "menu "button, and the "ch +" button at the same time for about 8-10 seconds. Upon release, a menu screen will appear in the upper left corner. Use the menu button on the remote to change the settings. It may take a bit of experimenting. For example, change "off" to "on", or "disable" to "enable". You'll know what I mean when you see it.
Write this hint down and save it - you'll need it. I have to reset my TV every 2 months

I was playing my xbox 360 on my viewsonic tv and it just went off

From the symptoms it sounds like the TV requires an Inverter PCB.

This is the part that "lights" the screen.

I hope this helps.

We got the part in today and the hubby fixed the tv. It is as good as new. We are very happy with our $62 purchase.

Viewsonic LCD TV Power Issues?

You have probably already resolved this, however if your TV is 32" or smaller it likely has bad capacitors in the power supply. If you try it once more take note of: Does the red standby light still come on? If so, unplug the unit and either replace the capacitors in the power supply or purchase a new power supply from a Viewsonic service centre. Don't keep plugging it in and trying to get it to work in this condition or you'll completely blow the supply. If the standby light no longer comes on and the tv will no longer power up, the power supply board is toast. Get a new one and install it (they are pretty easy to install, unscrew the remove the back cover, remove the shield covering the boards, unplug two plugs going to the power board and remove the board. Install the new board and reassemble.
