Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Computer Drivers for Windows 7 & Vista

Most printers that were made before 1997 will not operate on the Vista & Windows 7 operating system. If you browse around different search engines you will find some companies that updates some printers to operate on the newer versions of Windows. Of course they will have a charge for this update although the cost is far less than purchasing a new printer for most of you

Most printers with modern operating systems such as Windows 7 or Vista are "plug and play" so provided you are conected to the internet, the operating system should help you to find the right printer driver.

Just click on the Windows Start button, choose Devices and Printers then add a printer and browse through the diaglogue box that follows.

If you can't do this with your operating system, then you'll need to identify your printer, go online to that manufacturer's website and search under "Support" for a downloadable printer driver appropraite to your model printer and your operating system. Then download and save it to your machine.

I have an older printer on my new computer that wont download why

Every hardware has different drivers for different versions of operating system, so in the same way, you also need to install a newer or different driver for the new computer. If you can let me know which operating system is installed on your new computer, and what make or what model is your printer, I can help you find the driver for your printer. I hope you understand what operating system means, i.e. Microsoft Windows xp or Windows Vista or Windows 7 or OSX etc...etc..

Let me know so that I can help you further.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

My printer not working with OS Windows 7

Remove all existing printer installations (delete printer instance from installed printers list). Depending on Windows 7 version, download the Vista x64 or Vista 32 drivers from: Select software and drivers.
Download the Print Driver Package, not the Plug and Play Package.
Ensure that the printer USB is NOT CONNECTED. Run the driver installation program, making note of the folder to which it installs the files.
Plug in printer USB Windows 7 will detect the printer but will prompt that the printer was not installed successfully. Do not attempt searching for drivers at this point.
Go to “Devices and Printers” , there you will find the HP 1020 newly installed. Right click on it, and select properties.
Click General tab, click “Make changes”, find again "properties" and "Update driver".
Click update drivers, then select “Browse my computer” and navigate to the driver installation folder that you have previously written down. Click OK to install drivers.

I can not install driver Printer Canon LBP 2900 on Vista 64bist

it could be possible that you are running on a different platform, say Vista, and you are downloading on XP vice versa, ensure you have the correct version of the driver you wish to install, unless you correctly choose the right OS, you will never make this work. sometime it is confusing really...
hope this helps
