I have a new mobo and I have only one IDE connection and I have about seven SATA connections. I have two IDE harddrives and two IDE CD/DVD-RW drives which are using the IDE connection on the MOBO. I purchased two IDE-to-SATA adapters and connected them two the HDD's and now I cannot seee the drives. I am not sure what to do now. can you help? Elise

If you are doing this in windows xp, you will need to install the scsi drivers that are for your chipset (the motherboards traffic control basically) These are on the cd that came with your mobo. Another thing you can try is to set the bios to ide emulation mode (probably called safe mode/compatibility mode) for the sata channels.

Hope this helps

SATA Drivers for Hitachi HDD

Is there a BIOS setting to temporarily put the SATA controller into legacy mode? XP would then think it's an IDE drive. Then, after installing XP, install the drivers from the motherboard CD, then go back into the BIOS and turn off legacy mode.
