Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

How to make your computer work faster

  1. Eliminate computer viruses as well as spyware. In many cases, viruses and spyware programs cause computers to run slowly. This is the reason that you can't overestimate the necessity of programs that combat viruses and spyware.

If you do not install them, your computer will be more likely to experience one of many possible problems with its performance.

Run these software programs regularly so that viruses and spyware can be immediately detected and removed from your system. Also, make sure that these programs are always up to date so that your computer is protected from the latest versions of viruses and spyware.
  2. Step 2Clean the registry. Computer start up and shutdown processes become sluggish if the registry becomes corrupted. To make your computer run faster, its registry needs to be kept clean using registry cleaners that can be downloaded from the Internet.
  3. Step 3Defrag your desktop computer. Defragmenting or defragging the hard drive of your computer regularly can make a huge difference in its speed. This will fix performance malfunctions, which are often the result of fragmentation in the operating system.

To defrag the hard drive, access the Disk Defragmenter program in the Start menu.
  4. Step 4Remove temporary files from your computer. Every time you use your computer, it stores temporary files in your hard drive. And once the hard drive is cluttered with many temporary files, your computer speed will surely be affected. Delete the files by going into the Start menu and opening up the Disk Cleanup application.

computer slow... struggles

Most likely loaded up with unnecessary programs (that you dont use anymore) running on start up, or duplicate programs trying to do the same job (multiple antivirus or spyware programs), or viruses/spyware running in the background, or being hacked (someone remotely using your system), or Windows programming not updated, or system drivers not updated, or it may just be slow because your antivirus/antispyware program is running. Whew! If its not any of these, maybe your computer needs to be upgraded? Extra ram/memory usually helps if you dont have much. These are good solutions I have come across in my 20+ years working with computers. For most people, the fastest and easiest way to eliminate any software/virus/spyware problem is to delete everything (format) and do a fresh install of all windows, windows updates, and motherboard drivers. If it is still slow after that, then a hardware upgrade is highly recommended.

My mini netbook has virus and it is not letting me to open anything. i have macafee on it, but still unable to do perform anything. How i can remove the virus from netbook? OR how can i restore it to factory defaults?

Be sure your firewall is activated. You can chose to use the windows firewall pre-installed on your Netbook or you can activate the firewall in you anti-virus package.
Run a cleaning software designed for detecting spyware on a regular basis to maintain Netbook processing speed and to remove items picked up by your Netbook while surfing the web. CCleaner is a solid free version of spyware cleaner.
If you suspect malware on your computer because it is running slowly, has strange pop ups or the anti-virus software detects it, then download software designed to find spyware and eliminate spyware. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, A-squared Free and SuperAntiSpywate Free are free versions of adware removal tool to consider. These tools get rid of spyware when used individually or in tandem. Continue to run the software until all spyware, viruses and malware are removed.

computer runs too slowly and ''grinds''

Depending on the situation, It could be you need more ram. If your running Windows Vista, 2-3 years old computers are probably coming with about 512mb-2 gb's or ram. In which case grab at least 3 gb's or ram and you'll be ok. If it's an xp system. grab at least 1gb or ram. Internet delay though could possibly be due to your ISP or perhaps a virus/spyware. There are certain viruses and spyware that slow down internet connection while leaving your pc running fast.

my dell optiplex sx 270 restarts

Hello!

Here are other possible reasons why computer restart

-- Sometimes this can be caused by an overheating situation wherein some programs require a lot of processing power which can cause the processor or hard drive to get hot

--If you determine that overheating is not the problem, the most likely suspect is bad memory. Trying to access a bad spot in your system memory (RAM) can cause the computer to freak out and restart.

-- Make sure that the Automatically Restart in the System failure section is uncheck

--This can also be a virus or spyware problem. go through your Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs list and remove any programs you don't need, then run thorough anti-virus and anti-spyware scans.

-- Failing or under-rated power supplies can also cause your computer to restart at seemingly random intervals.
